Potluck Dinner

I turned 40 this past week. I usually go out to eat with friends but this year I decided to have a potluck dinner party. A nice crowd, 15 people all together and I assigned different things for each person to bring. I has some bring appetizers, side dishes, plates and cups, utensils, wine, and salads.
My responsibility was the entree and and the desserts. I roasted a 10 pound pork tenderloin. I stuffed with sauted red onion and fennel to caramelize them a little then added apples and walnuts. Added some rosemary and oregano from the window box that is draped over my rail on the back porch. I roasted it for about 1 1/4 hour on 325 after I seared it. Took the lid off the roaster for the last 15 minutes to get a better color on it.
For dessert I made pumpkin cheesecake with chocolate cookie crust. Pumpkins were a dollar at the farmers market and I made the chocolate cookie crust and put the whole thing together two days before the party. I also made a chocolate cake with a caramel buttercream. I made what I consider a true buttercream, with eggs, sugar and butter; actually 10 egg yolks and a pound of butter. I don't like the what I call "fake buttercream" with is a little butter or CRISCO and powdered sugar. I really don't like it when I go into a restaurant or bakery and they tell me that the cake has a buttercream and they give my a cake with that powdered sugar icky stuff. Give me real buttercream!
