Where is the BEST stake sandwich?

One of my earliest restaurant experiences was a ritualistic stop to a little hole in the wall stake sandwich shop on the way to my grandmothers house. The Italian Place, Provo, Utah. My parents had eaten at this place while in college (not together) and my dad would go out of his way to take us there each time we were in the area. They load up long french rolls with fresh-thinly cut stake and your fixins'. I always got the "works" and loved every mouthful. And their specialty taste? The black pepper. Mind you, we are like an Italian family (which whether I have Italian blood in me or not is still disputable) We love our food, we love our company and we are loud about it-having a good time. Amazingly I found that little 'Ol Utah had a few more great stake and sandwich shops. Another I must mention is Grinders!!! If you like meat, and if you like cheese than Grinders is for you. Both the meat and cheese are "grinded" in the slicer to form layored ribbons of delectably good combination. They are both piled high in the heavy Italian Roll. It is one of the few occasions where some of my friends asked for "less" of something! When I moved to Norcal Sacramento region I was worried about my selection. Mr. Pickles offered a great sandwich "the Mr. Pickle" which Id have served on a fresh Dutch Crunch Roll. Delicious! But it wasnt until I worked in the Bay area that I found good Stake Sandwiches. One notable chain is called, quite literally, "The Cheese Stake Shop". This was always a huge hit near the Fairfield Air Force Base where the lines would be forever long. They have amazing sandwiches served on softer rolls, the stake is mixed with sweet and sour peppers that have just enough "kick" to them. It is an adventure with every bite. I have moved again, I am in wonderful LA (the OC respectively) and I have had some great food already. but I am still looking for the regions fabulous stake sandwich shops. I dont think it will be too hard to find, and the search is half the reward. afterthought: I have family who live in Utah still, and if enough of us are in town, we meet at The Italian Place and cause a ruckus every time. we take up half of the seating in the Orem, Utah store with close to 20 people in the immediate family now. links: http://www.theitalianplace.biz/ http://www.grinders13.com/ http://www.cheesesteakshop.com/sac/ http://www.mrpicklesinc.com/
