TASTE OF HOME vs. LIGHT AND TASTY

OK, it seems to me that we have been bombarded lately by the TOH peeps. I guess that's better than thenest.com newlyweds that were making me gag, but I think the recipe board is suffering as a result. Clarify, not because of the people (though a few of them must be quite homebound and chained to the keyboard), but the recipes. I guess I just don't like the TOH recipes. I used to subscribe but switched over to Light and Tasty long time ago. The TOH recipes all seem to be heavy, meat and potatoes, fat laden ICK to me. Matter of preference and the way I was raised..on very light, creative cuisine...thanks to artist Mom. Don't get me wrong..I really like the TOH Light and Tasty because the recipes usually are simple and straightforward, unlike Cooking Light where you have to look in 3 different grocery stores to get the 20 plus ingredients for one dish. It's just that this week I have had a hard time finding something posted that I would actually dare to eat (without having to run a half marathon to burn the calories afterwards). I will admit that some of it looks good (like the cute Halloweeny stuff :cal: ). But alot of it is a real gross turnoff. :p Same with the Paula Deen stuff....lovely lady, puts a stick of butter in everything though. It all tastes wonderful, but hey, she's a bit on the hefty side as a result. If you know what I mean!! ;)
