Passion...

Hi there Well thanks to Babette, I've finally found a decent community of foodies! Kudos to you Babette, thanks for the link from myspace :-D Now...food. Food and cooking is a passion. Not that I cook all day everyday or obsess about it. But when I cook, I put all my passion and love into the dish. Cooking is not just about the end result...every moment is precious to me. Let me explain.... I've said before I'm hopeless at following recipes. But what I do, is read a few similar recipes, let the thoughts simmer for awhile and I find that naturally, thoughts and ideas about the dish come to me. This is my inspiration. I believe so much that you have to make the dish your very own. The slightest touch changes the flavour and you need to go with how you feel every step of the way. Use all of your senses. Touch...to your hands, in your mouth.... how does the food feel? What about the texture? Is it good, does it help tell the story? and Smell, smell evokes memories and feelings so crucial to your experience with a dish. Sight...what it looks like, how it's laid out and served, the entire dining experience. So you see, taste is more than just the food...it is everything that you are, in one little dish. And THAT is what makes it so special. Words on a page only describe slightly the passion that cooking invokes in me. I really do hope that everybody at some stage in their life can feel that passion in their cooking. ((Hugs)) Serina
