Rustic Canyon

Recently tried out Rustic Canyon in Santa Monica. It's run by the guy who runs or used to run Capo (not really sure...not really into the whole Capo scene). Went for a self-induced happy hour with a drug rep so only got to try a few of their small plates. They have an excellent wine selection (By the glass as well as by the bottle). The small plates we had were great as well. The cheese plate was excellent, but definitely not a stretch of the imagination. We had a filet mignon appetizer that was very tender and tasty, however. It made me very happy. We also tried the Middle Eastern/Mediterrean platter - homemade flat bread (very good), homemade hummus (pretty good), and an interesting eggplant hummus (not quite baba ghanoush). Would like to try a full on dinner sometime, but I have feeling the only way it would be worth it is to have someone pay for it (like a drug rep). We'll see...
