I almost killed the cats!

On Saturday I had decided to lemon the cats. I boil a thinly sliced lemon and then let it cool and sit for the day. Then rub it into the cat's fur, fleas hate it and stay off them for awhile. So I put the lemon on to boil. I say to hubby don't let me forget the lemon is on. Out we go, 8 hours later we return home to a pot glowing red. The bottom of the pan was burnt right off and the smell was quite disgusting. I wasn't too upset about my pan or the smell or that I could have burnt the place to the ground, but my babies were home alone totally unaware of what was going on and they had no way out, I was most upset about the fact my kitties were in danger. Now I am paranoid to leave the house! I should get around to insurance too! On the good side of things I am going camping this weekend. I will spend the week looking for new experiments for the campfire!
