Those weird post 4th days

Working from home poses enough problems when it comes to remembering dates, and having a holiday in the middle of the week makes it even worse. And, with all the rain we've had around here (44 consecutive days of rain in Texas), some of the 4th of July festivities were canceled. No holiday is complete without good food. We cooked in here - hamburgers on the indoor grill, burnt sugar pound cake and Dr Pepper ice cream (the recipe for which I just posted). The neighboring city still had their fireworks display, which we could see from our front yard, so we still had some fun. I did have a fortuitous meeting on the 3rd, and a part time job has come about. Steady income is a good thing when it comes to eventually getting a nice kitchen! I think I'm going to paint over the bad wallpaper in the kitchen, for right now. I've chosen orange and green as to two colors to research, so I need to pick up paint chips this weekend. I think that will suffice until we can get the master bath renovated this fall.
