COOKBOOK PREVIEW (14 recipes)
Light and Simple Flour Tortillas When I lived with my grandmother, she woke up every morning at 4 am to make fresh tortillas. She always made sure that I ate a hot breakfast before I left for school. My favorite meal in the morning is breakfast tacos. It gave me energy for the rest of the day.
Chicken Wings In Greek Sauce I wrote this recipe thinking of the time, when I was at the mall eating my favorite Greek sandwich. I loved it so much, that I decided to blend the flavors together for this dish. It turned out to be very light and refreshing.
Tomato Basil Cream Soup I went to the grocery store this morning and the smell of hot French bread caught my attention. There is something very comforting about hot French bread with tomato soup.
Torta De Carne Asada I've eaten tortas and I wasn't a big fan of the bread that was being used (French). The bread is too thick and I couldn't taste the filling. This is my version of the torta.
Picadillo Taco Growing up in Texas where cattle is raised, ground beef is the most affordable cut of meat. My family learned many different ways to stretch out our meal. This recipe is a wonderful blend of ground beef, onions, and potatoes
Chicken Guacamole I was tired of the old hum drum guacamole. I decided to jazz it up a bit. I tested my recipe on my family and to my amazement they loved it.
Borracho Beans It was cold this morning and I wanted to create something that gave my home a warm and cozy feeling. This recipe makes a great side dish along with enchiladas, bbq, sandwiches, salads, or main entree.
Savory Hearts of Palm & Spinach Cheesecake It was time for me to clean out my cupboard. I happen to notice a can of spinach and a jar of hearts of palm. I wanted to experiment with these ingredients to see if it went well in a savory cheesecake. The end result was creamy and flavorful.
Grandma's Pico De Gallo This wonderful pico de gallo recipe is right from my grandmothers kitchen. I enjoyed this spicy and refreshing combination with tortilla chips or on top of grilled meats. It will become your favorite recipe at your home.
Lengua Entomatada Lengua is a very affordable meat that can be prepared many different ways. I had my first encounter with the uncooked cow's tongue and became very squeamish. My grandmother added this sauce to the meat to hide the fact that I was eating cow's tongue. I loved this dish for as long as I can remember.
Avocado Salsa Avocado meets salsa is a love relationship. Two of my favorite combinations. Great and healthy appetizer. If you love salsa with a kick this one's for you.
Chicken Flautas If you have left over chicken, these flautas are very easy to make. Perfect for cold winter days with a bowl of soup. It's a wonderful comfort food.
Crockpot Tamale Balls I wanted a more convenient way to eat tamales without all the fuss and mess. I've taken my grandma's recipe and turned it into a ball. These are great for parties.
Champurrado Brownies I combined the flavors of mexican hot chocolate into the brownie. This is my favorite brownie recipe and super easy to make. The smell of baking these brownies brings me back to my abuelita's kitchen.
