OK, This is the San Marzano Tomato Plant (There are 2 but they look the same)

Golden Zucchini.....

Chocolate Bell Pepper.....

Meyer Lemon Tree....

Burgundy Bush Bean

Pictures of the balcony....

I am standing on the stairs that go down to the Laundry room.

Starting in the back left... Kaffir/Makrut Lime... Red Bell Pepper, Golden Zucchini (Started from plant)... Burgundy Bush bean
Then down in front, from the left again,
Chocolate Bell pepper, Golden bell Pepper.. and that little tiny plant in front of the Golden zucchini and the bush bean is my Italian zucchini started from seed...

Far corner...

OK from the left again.... Moro Blood Orange.. Where the French yellow pencil beans WILL be if they ever sprout... Meyer lemon... San Marzano Tomato... The Urn has a Golden Marconi Pepper... then another San Marzano Tomato... and Finally.. The Chervil Pot... (there is Neopalitan Basil planted with the tomato pots)...

Farmer Shane !!!! They look beautiful!
Can you really grow lemons and oranges on your balcony??
Will you have to bring them in during the winter?
Did you buy your vegetables locally or order them by mail?
Around here, we only have a couple of choices of species for each kind.
Like 2-3 different kinds of tomatoes and red, green or hot peppers!

I haven't planted anything yet.... I'm still waiting for the guy who is going to stain my deck to get over here. If he doesn't come in a week or two it will be almost too late to start any vegetables! Our growing season is so short here that I have to get them started soon!

Well, so far, you win the prize for "container farmer" of the year!
Good work! Very Happy

Thank you... Smile it is going to be refreshing to actually walk out on my patio area and eat breakfast right off the plant. Wink

I am not sure about the citrus, I am going to give it a go... I fertilized them before I mulched a couple weeks ago, with organic fertilizer, so we will see how it goes. I had 3 Makrut limes last year, but one of the teenagers that hides back there to smoke a de ganga decided they were great to throw at people... grrrrrr

They should be OK this winter, since it tends to be fairly mild... But I will mulch them again... I need to figure out when I can transplant them into the proper pots... I need some big ceramic ones to insulate the roots, just in case... they need to be glazed though, or the water will evaporate to quickly.

I bought organic seedlings at Armstrong nursery for the Bell Peppers, Gold Zucchini and the Strawberries... The Burgundy Bush Beans, Marconi Peppers, Italian Zucchini, Basil Nepolitano, and Chervil are from organic seed. The San Marzano Tomatoes were Mail Order... that is why 1 didn't survive... Sad I don't think they were organic, but they are now... Wink

Yeah, My dad always had that problem, being up in the Columbia Gorge in the mountains, he bought mostly seedling plants, especially the Summer squashes and butternut. He use to sow the Pole Beans & Carrots and Lettuces though (I use to HATE weeding the baby carrots Wink )

Thanks Spryte!!! We shall see though... I saw your garden pics, they are phenomenal... Smile You are my inspiration...

Say, do you know if it's normal for a zucchini to send up more than 1 shoot... I only planted 1 seed for the Italian zucchini, and 3 days after I planted my little sprout, another plant shot up right next to it... Seems a little odd for 1 seed to send up 2 plants...

I am very excited though.... I have male Golden Zucchini blossoms about to bloom... Time to stuff them, or make risotto... YAY!!!! I just hope I get more than 1 at a time, I am not sure how long I can keep them in the refrigerator... I need about 5 to make risotto...

I have to take some new pics... my tomatoes are getting really big, plus I added a jalapeno, habanero and poblano... and some more herbs. But I was away all weekend.

OOO Spryte, do you cage your peppers? I caged the tomatoes 4 hours after I took the pictures... Wink but I wasn't sure if I should cage anything else... I have heard of caging summer squash, but I was also wondering about the bush bean, or do I just let it go.....
