I had a recipe for pecan pie that used eagle brand milk in it it was creamy and smooth. I would greatly appreciate someone giving it to me if they have it. _________________ kcqueenm |

Hi kcqueenm,
I haven't tried either one of these but I thought I'd go ahead and post them.
Carmel Pecan Pie
1 baked pie shell
1 can eagle brand milk
1/2 c brown sugar
pecans
Cool Whip
In double broiler, cook milk and brown sugar unti thick. Pour over pecans in baked pie shell. Let cool, then top with Cool Whip.
Stovetop Pecan Pie
1 stick butter
1/4 cup waffle syrup
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
1 can Eagle brand milk
1 cup pecans ,lightly toasted and chopped
whipped topping
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
dash of salt
1 regular baked pie crust or graham cracker crust
Heat butter, syrup, cinnamon and milk. Add pecans.
Cook until thickened. Add vanilla and a dash of salt.
Pour into pie shell and refrigerate. Top with whipped
topping and sprinkle with additional pecans.
I've never cooked a "stovetop" pecan pie, but I guess the latter looks like it might taste better?

I'm assuming we're talking about the thick sweetened, condensed milk here. That stuff is deadly. Ever try it plain? I can down a whole can in a sitting of course, you're talking mega calories. My father used to have it like that when i was little - he'd pour it into a tablespoon and enjoy spoonful after spoonful.
DD - good sounding recipes. i'll have to see if i can get someone to make them for me, lol! _________________

Hi Eric! yes, there's a big difference between evaporated milk and sweetened condensed milk. The recipes I posted didn't specify, but I'm assuming they mean the sweetened condensed, it's usually the one you use to make carmel plus the fact that neither recipe calls for enough sugar to thicken otherwise. Good point though, thanks for watching my back lol
