LMAO is that cuz when you grow up you wanna be an old woman? HAHAHAHA
When I first started drinking wine, Beringer White Zin was the only wine I liked!! it was a good bridge from zema to wine...until I discovered the merlot is actually pretty good |
Ha! The only wine spritzers I've actually drank were made with Zima and white zinfandel. I was a teenager, I'm not ashamed. _________________ Cooking Stuff

*sliding through the door at closing*
First up... we actually tried this back in February.
It must have been a hostess gift from Whitney. It's her favorite winery in CA.
Name: V. Sattui Winery
Price: not sure... guessing $18.00ish
Year:
PHOTO of bottle:
Short intro from the wine maker about the wine: I don't have the bottle anymore... this is from February and I didn't write it down... yeah I'm a big lame.
Review:
Jon ~ mild.. not very tannic.. nice, maybe peppery, berry
me ~ fruit flavor... can't quite identify... but it burps fruity... not a big squinchy face...
Would you buy again?: I'd totally cook with it.
Wine Pairing Ideas/Recipes: See... I made Coq au Vin with it!
Coq au Vin
I guess it made a nice wine cooler, from the pic I found!

From wine party tonight
First up Whitney brought this one...
Name:Barefoot Zinfandel
Price: $6.99
Year: 2007
PHOTO of bottle:
Short intro from the wine maker about the wine:
Barefoot Zinfindel is an immense wine with inviting flavors of ripe cherry and wild raspberry. Aromas of vanilla and spice complement the lingering finish.
Review:
Dark purple red... very pretty...
Jon ~ oowwwwww!!!! That just assaulted my mouth... that tastes like wood.... wow... wooooo... seriously it's making me cry... (as he wipes a tear) smells like wine... Ugh... I can't drink this...
me ~ maybe spice smell... agree with assault... but not crying... full squinchy face... maybe it's better with cheese... NOPE!!!
Ericka ~ *shrug* tastes thin... better with horseradish havarti... probably wouldn't buy this...
Whitney ~ not crying... lingering after tastes coats your mouth.. better w/jarlsberg...
Drew ~ I like it... it's good... not too young...
Would you buy again?: I wouldn't
Wine Pairing Ideas/Recipes: Ok... actually I would put it in stew or something
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Next up... I picked...
Name: Plungerhead
Price: $14.99
Year: 2007
PHOTO of bottle:
Short intro from the wine maker about the wine:
Fresh crushed berries perfectly laced between a core of oak and cinnamon spice with notes of white pepper and sweet plum.
Review:
Drew ~ mmmm... very spicy... dry.... I like it... I would buy this...
Jon ~ smells grape-y... hate myslef for drinking it... *gagged on wine* sweeter than nasty
Ericka ~ warm sulfury smells... dry on tip of tongue... I would buy this... not much after taste... fruity
me ~ smoky smell... very dry & squinchy face... tastes like lighter fluid.. YUCK... cheese doesn't help... this is revolting...
Whitney ~ warming... spicy...
Would you buy again?: only to cook with...
Wine Pairing Ideas/Recipes: It would be nice in stew or a stew like-dish...
Year: 2007
PHOTO of bottle:
Short intro from the wine maker about the wine:
chocolate toffee blackberry jam... note the vanilla, plum and coffee aromas...
Review:
Whitney ~ bubbly around the edges... tastes coffee-y
Ericka ~ smells fruitier.. sweeter in the beginning... very dry... driest of them all...
Drew ~ it's very young...
me ~ smells spicy... not bad after teriyaki Lil Smoky... much better mixed with 7up as a wine cooler...
Whitney ~ crisp... refreshing... favorite... not offensive... summer fun... happy...
me ~ smells like punch... fizzy... very nice w/teriyaki Lil Smokies... smells better than it tastes... agrees... big change...
haha...i saw the Zen Zin today at the store and thought it was a cute name...but since the month is over, I went with a merlot.
Oh...but i do have one more review:
Name: Cardinal Zin (and then under that it says "Beastly Old Vines")
Price: oh crap...I think it was on sale for $8 or $9 bucks...normally around $12 or $13
Year: 2006
region: California
Photo:
Short into from wine maker: In the dark and forbidden world of winemaking, a reform arose. It now became unclear whether our fervent Cardinal was a slave to the vines or whether the vines were a slave to him. The two sinister worlds became so intertwined in the vineyards that we could see a papal legacy revolution before our eyes. What cultivated out of this revolt was a tongue enveloping Zinfandel so decadent with spice and a so ripe with blackberries and plums that the pleasures that ensue would sure to be sinful.
(well, not so short but cute none the less)
Review: I liked this from the start. It has a spicy nose yet sweet (must be the berries?). I can taste the spice .....and I think I can taste the blackberries just after I swallow. very enjoyable on its own.
Wine Pairing Ideas: I eat so much chicken and I never think about drinking red wines with my chicken...so I don't really have any pairing suggestions. I tried it with some smoked apple gouda....not bad....I think the smokiness of the cheese went well with the spices. and then I tried a white cheddar garlic cheese...Im not sure. It seems to bring out the tannis with the initial sip...can't put my finger on the after flavor though. _________________ Danielle
