Since Memorial Day usually counts as the first weekend of Summer... I'm going to add my Memorial Day Sangria!
Tropical Sangria
2 bottles Sauvignon Blanc
1/3 C brandy
1/3 C triple sec
1/2 ripe mango, cubed
1 orange, cut into slices, then quartered
5 or 6 pineapple fresh pineapple spears, cut into bite-sized pieces
cold lemon/lime soda
Pour all ingredients except lemon/lime soda, into a large pitcher and refrigerate for several hours.
Add some ice to wine glasses, pour in wine mixture and top off with lemon/lime soda.
Enjoy!

For the season premier of True Blood, I came up with this sangria recipe:
Pomme de Sang-ria
1 bottle of cabernet (preferably Vampire)
1/2 cup each of -
vodka (preferably Vampire Vodka. It adds to the whole "bloody" effect!)
white rum (preferably New Orleans. Available at Friar Tuck)
brandy
chardonay
simple syrup
2 cups pineapple orange juice
pint of blackberries
3 white peaches, sliced thin
1/2 cup sliced strawberries
1/2 cup halved cherries
Combine in pitcher and chill for at least 24 hours.
Serve over ice, with or without club soda (depending on how This is spam. Please don't click. you are!)
Enjoy!!! |

LOL Spryte....I have to say it like the line in the movie! I luv it!
Ladyvine- first of all...nice to "meet" you! Secondly...you totally rocked it! I luv me some True Blood!!! So now I have to look for this "Vampire" Cab. (now I'm curious as to what word(s) got "spam zapped" ??? LOL)
Ok, so here's my first one...if you want particulars you can check out my blog. (didn't see a need to post all the info twice)
http://ddpiesslice.blogspot.com/2010/06/pina-colada-sangria.html
Pina Colada Sangria
2 Bottles Riesling
1 C canned pineapple chunks, drained, juice reserved
1- 10oz jar maraschino cherries, drained
1 mango, peeled and diced
1 C Bacardi light rum
1/2 C pineapple juice (more if you'd like)
1/4 C + 2 Tbsp Real Coco Cream of Coconut
Poor wine into a pitcher. Strain the pineapple, reserving the juice and set aside. Strain the cherries and add the cherries and pineapple to the wine. Add in the mango, rum, and 1/2 C pineapple juice. Lastly, add in the cream of coconut (you may need to run the bottle under hot tap water just to loosen it up a bit) Stir vigorously until all is mixed. Let set for several hours in the fridge, or, overnight is even better. The cream of coconut will separate, so just stir again before serving. Serve over ice with a straw or drink stir stick. |

actually I loved the taste, however, I think I would try coconut milk next time, not the condensed stuff. It mixes in, but then it separates and you have to keep stirring it.
Also, I'd skip the mango, couldn't really taste it, but AS YOU KNOW SPRYTE (LOL) I had bought them for a "tropical" Sangria and didn't want it to go to waste so I went ahead and used it. |
