OH! Spryte is already doing a lime one? OK, I will think of something else... I have been seein all the Sangria Blog posts and even though it's not my normal cup of "tea" as it were, I think it's time for me to join in the fun! Especially since there is a Family Reunion/BBQ this weekend. Muah ha ha ha
I was asked to make a dessert, what do you make when there is no refrigeration and it's gonna be hot? That leaves out my blueberry/Lemon Cake... _________________ ~ Shane

|

Hey guys . Well, I've made three Sangrias...and time is just slipping away as usual. Here's one:
White Hibiscus Sangria (or Jamaica Sangria)
1 bottle Chardonnay
2 c. Agua de Jamaica
1/2 c. Triple Sec
juice of 2 oranges
fruits for bottom, cut as seen fit:
peach
apple
orange
lime
currants
Place all the fruit in the bottom of a pitcher and pour liquids over. Stir and refrigerate until very cold. Serve over ice.
I blogged it earlier today here: http://girlichef.blogspot.com/2010/07/yesyou-can-add-alcohol.html
oh man, were we supposed to include the wine we used??Zoinks, I didn't sorry...too focused on this ROCKIN' Sangria...seriously, sooooo good _________________ http://girlichef.blogspot.com/

okay...this is one I actually made last summer...with one of the wines I reviewed then, but it was another one that I really, REALLY liked...so, I thought I'd re-visit it!!
Blueberry Pomgria
by girlichef
yield: 1 pitcher
red wine- 1 bottle (preferably one with blueberry notes...like a Merlot)
Spryte...er, ah...Sprite (or other lemon-lime soda)- 1 can
Blueberry PomWonderful- ~1 c. (tricky move w/ those samples...I'm hooked!)
Blueberries- big handful
Other assorted fruits, sliced thin (I used oranges, apples, lemons & limes)
Place sliced fruits and blueberries in bottom of a pitcher.
Pour all beverages over fruit and refrigerate. Add more fruit to your glass and pour in the chilled Blueberry Pomgria.

Heather yours look and sound good too. I'm intrigued about using the currants.
Spryte- I did a sort of lime Sangria last week end but it was a hodgepodge, using little bits of this and that I had leftover. I used 2 bottles of Riesling, about 2 cups of regular margarita mix, and 1C of tequila. Now, I would have used fresh limes, but I only had about 4 of them, so instead of slicing them, I juiced them for more flavor. Plus we were drinking it right away. There was a little too much pucker so I added a little bit of simple syrup. My friend and I must have enjoyed it because we sucked down the whole pitcher in no time! wish I had taken pics! It was definitely worth another shot and something I will revisit only I'll use all fresh limes of course. I think I would juice some and slice others. |
