Ooooh! The first sweet cherries are coming in. Didn't pick any up this today.... only strawberries and zucchini. Yes, it is still strawberry season in Michigan!

We just picked up, strawberries, blackberries, small potatoes, cucumbers and zucchini. We only went there to pick up a rosemary plant and 90 dollars later walked out with two more flats of herbs. Have any of you planted sweet potato vines. I love how they look in large pots. _________________ Karen

They are really pretty Karen, I think they grow fast also. I almost got one for in a planter I have near the walkway to get in the house, but at the last minute picked a vine that is variegated light yellow and green and get little white flowers on. I don't think it has grown much thouhg. _________________ Patti

Didn't make it to any farmers markets today due to the rain, but went to a family run market in Dublin yesterday afternoon. I was hoping to find tomatoes, corn, maybe some peaches and/or blueberries, also wanted strawberries but was pretty sure I wouldn't find them since our season is over for those. I was very disappointed in what I found. The tomatoes and peaches were all from out of state and didn't look ripe. They did have some Ohio grown green beans but they didn't look very good either, I think it's just a little early for those. I did come home with 1/2 dozen ears of corn that I'm pretty sure was grown in Ohio, no sign, but the corn is just beginning to come in around here. I cooked a couple of ears to have with dinner last night and they were very good. Will cook two more ears to have with dinner tonight.
Thank goodness the local farmers market is Tuesday, Michael and I are both looking forward to going since they always have something good....and, even though the produce doesn't have to be locally grown, it does have to come from Ohio. _________________ Sheryle

My find at the farmers market - a couple ears of sweet corn, broccoli, tomatoes and blueberries...still no peaches. The person who was selling the blueberries sold them as, buy two pints and get the third free, so I couldn't pass them up. He was doing the same with blackberries, which I would have preferred, but Michael likes blueberries better so that's what I bought. Another vendor was selling raspberries and black raspberries and I would liked some of them but was afraid of buying too much and not being able to use it up fast enough. Wish I had some freezer space....
Today I'm making a large pan of blueberry cobbler and will be steaming the broccoli to serve along with pot roast and mashed potatoes and gravy. _________________ Sheryle
