Hi Danielle and everybody else, have a smashing day
Thanks for taking over Danielle, I should have done it first thing this morning [in the middle of the night at your side] but got tangled up in sunshine. So I made my self comfortable outside, did grocery runs and everything what prevented me from going inside I'm extremely enjoying my day off too. Tomorrow the weather will be less sunny, but still comfortably warm, I just love it. We'll have cocktails in front of the pet shop. Too bad the rains will be back on Sunday, would have been so nice dining outside in the "patio".
I've postponed my kitchen spring cleaning, can't be bothered cleaning when the sun is shining, I suppose.
Danielle, I hope your garden is doing well. Enjoy your day off. _________________ Fanmajie

Hey Y'all:
I had to call the ER yesterday evening-upset stomach was getting worse by the minute. They had a dr. call me back & after an explanation he told me to stop taking the Bactrim. Woke up this morning with no upset stomach at all. Almost feel human.
When I let Max out this morning I walked to the end of the porch & looked around. I happened to look up & to the left & spotted a WELL FED snake resting on the porch framing It's all curled up but is so fat that sections hang over and droop down. Took a picture & if I can remember how I will try to post it here. Now I know what happened to all my chickens. It must have gotten the last two Wed. nite, didn't see or hear them yesterday or today.
Gee I can hardly stand the silence....no crowing 24-7. First time in years. I am really not too happy about the birds going but I have taken the attitude that everything has to eat & the birds had free run of the entire property- they were not caged.
Y'all take care...

It's a beautiful sunshiny day here too. My garden's doing well so far. I planted some Cilantro seeds 2 weeks ago and they aren't popping up...I'm getting worried. I have little tomatoes on a few of my tomato plants...some buds on some of my peppers and even a little bell pepper growing. My squashes are popping out of the ground. This weekend I'm going to plant some watermelon and pumpkin...and hopefully some green beans and edamame. As much as I miss my dogs...it's sooooo nice not having to worry about them digging and lifting their leg on everything (among other things). I have full reign on every piece of dirt in my backyard!! My favorite is my little herb garden
Ok...I'm trying to talk myself into mopping the floors. I guess I should go and find out which side of my argument wins. Enjoy your sunshine and cocktails. btw...it's awfully quiet in here. _________________ Danielle

Hi Nubbins, sorry to hear the snake has caught the last of your chickens. Are you going to get other ones? Glad the guys from the ER had some good advice on your upset stomach. I hope it just stays away now.
Daniele, I'm surprised. Is your garden that big? I have no space for planting hardly anything and no sunshine in my backyard. Basically dreaming about juicy tomatoes is likely to be more productive than planting them in my backyard. I bought tomatoes today and tomorrow I'll go out for fresh cilantro and bean sprouts. Served a few small tomatoes with my cheesy pasta tonight.
I know it has become kind of quiet in here. Seems the Facebook party is still gaining in folks and stocks [/img] _________________ Fanmajie

Your dinner looks amazing!! as always
Facebook is a little quiet today too but the way it's set up now, I don't see everyones posts that I'd like to. I hate when they make changes (which is several times a year) and each time, things seem to get more and more complicated. I set up an account on google plus which is very similar to facebook (a lot more simple) but it hasn't picked up over there yet.
My backyard is big but mostly cement. There's dirt around the edges ranging in 1ft to 3 ft widths which is plenty for planting. Most of my garden is along the back which the 3 ft wide area is. My beans and edamame will go along the narrower side area. I have an old wrought iron fence leaning against the wall there which will be perfect for the beans to grow up on. This is the most I've ever planted and it's been a lot of work getting it going. There were weeds everywhere from winter neglect. But most of those are gone now. Took me 3 weekends to get that done. _________________ Danielle

Yeah, I heard people complaining about the changes and about the complexity of dealing with the settings.
Your garden sounds like quite a project . How did you learn about gardening? Has it been a family thing? Like in my family cattle was a family thing and I still use that knowledge. Only my grandmother had something with gardening, in particular fruits and berries. But somehow it never became my cup of tea. _________________ Fanmajie

My grandmother always had a garden although I only remember her picking strawberries, corn and okra...and peanuts. I only visited in the summer so I never learned what she knew about gardening. I'm pretty much self taught. My neighbor, Ruth (she's about 94 now) always has a garden so I've learned some things from her along the years. Its very rewarding. And the tomatoes...oh the flavor! I can hardly stand eating the waxing, flavorless ones from the market anymore. I'm sure everything else tastes better too but I think because I eat tomatoes raw most of the time, the flavor difference is more noticeable than say cooked zucchini or yellow squash. _________________ Danielle

The flavor of home grown is usually much better. Although you have to take into account some limitations. The type of soil sometimes has a strong influence on the taste. Grandma always had a poor harvest on beans, because of the soil being very sandy. And the beans had a specific strong taste. When we moved to another part of the province with a different type of soil, we harvested more beans but they had a more bland taste. _________________ Fanmajie
