Hi everybody, have a smashing weekend
Looks as if everybody has lost power . Hopefully you are all doing okay.
I had a relaxed day with wonderful sunny and warm weather right till the end of our cocktail hour.
Now it has started to rain a bit, yet it's still warm outside.
Made my self a fish lasagna with salad for dinner. Took some courage having the oven on with these temps, but it was yummy after all.
So what are you all up to today? _________________ Fanmajie

Good Afternoon, Friends!
It is still much too hot and humid to be outside long. Meteorologists have compared this summer to 1988 and the 1930's Dust Bowl years due to the heat (upper 90 to 100+ F) and lack of rain. I feel for the farmers who have lost orchard produce in April due to frost and field crops in July due to drought. The heat is supposed to break tomorrow for a few days, but there is little chance of rain.
After medical tests this morning, I've been working inside... just a little of this and that.
For dinner: chicken breast with couscous or rice, accompanied by a quick, creamy cucumber salad and fruit.
Fan - How warm/hot has it been? I don't often turn on the oven when it is this warm, either.
Have a great weekend!
~~Vicki

Hi Everybody!
Finally got a thunderstorm this morning. It didn't last long, but at least it wet everything and cooled the temperature down a bit. It may rain again tonite, then it will be in the 80's for 4-5 days. That's much better than in the mid 90's like it has been!
I haven't been using the oven much either. Sticking with things I can cook on the top of the stove. I did break down and make a cherry pie yesterday. I just couldn't resist!!!
Fan - Glad the sun held out long enough for cocktail hour! It does look kind of quiet around here today.... hopefully everybody is outside having fun, and NOT stranded and without power!!
Hi Vicki.... and anyone else who comes by.
Happy Weekend !!! _________________ -----Martha |

Hello girls. It was 103 here today!! I had to brave the heat to go to Madison's swim meet. She did very well but didn't beat any of her times. She has another UTI and is on antibiotics, I think that had a lot to do with it. She fell asleep on the way home and Gary (hubby) had to carry her into the house.
Yesterday my sister came and took me to lunch and I helped her shop for a baby shower she is going to. I just love looking at baby things.
Our power went off and on a few times tonight and I was very afraid it would go out for good and we would be without air conditioning. I sure couldn't handle that.
We had to have a plumber come out yesterday to help us figure out why we keep getting water in the basement. We have a broken pipe somewhere between the well and the basement. It means to find it we will have to dig out the cement porch by the one door. We are figuring out exactly what we want to do and when.
**Fan, gorgeous pictures, not so sure I would like a fish lasagna but beautiful meal. Glad you were able to get some cocktails in before the rain got bad. I think a lot of people here would be glad for some rain.
**Vicki, hope things went well with the medical tests. I can't believe that you were working outside. Whew. I just watered the hanging baskets when we got home and it totally exhausted me, the heat I am guessing. Your meal sounds delicious and very summery.
**Martha, a cherry pie sure does sound good. Hubby wants me to make an apple cobbler, but not sure I will with it being so hot. Everyone's yards around here are turning a crispy brown. The corn seems to be affected also, I picked out some corn for my sister and I and I couldn't find any with the ears filled out to the top.
Hope everyone is able to keep cool. _________________ Patti

Good morning everybody, have a smashing Sunday
Muggy and hot this morning with a soothing rain. Temperature wise it's not too bad, but humidity levels are very high and without the wind it doesn't cool off at night. We had temperatures in the 80's for the last few days and in the 70's at night, but due to the humidity it feels like temps well in the 90's. It's really muggy all the time.
Vicki, I can image how tough it is for the farmers over there. We had a late spring crop this year too, luckily the circumstances for the July crop has been so much better due to a regular rainfall. Your dinner sounds really appealing.
Martha, congrats on the cooling down. I tend to stick with salads and on the top of the stove cooking these days too, but broke down too for the lasagna.
.
PattiT, sorry to hear Madison wasn't in shape and on antibiotics. Must have been fun going baby shower shopping with your sis. I may have to do that as well for a much younger friend or my niece quite soon.
I have no plans for today, just waiting for the rain to stop. Need to clear up the bills and release my dining table _________________ Fanmajie

Hey Y'all:
The head of our road is still blocked with water but one of my neighbors found a way out. They go thru a cattle gate into the field that belongs to the ranch down the road, skirt the hedgerow & make a right thru another gate. The County Councilman who owns the property on the other side of the second gate has "cut" a road to make it easier to get out to the blacktop road. I haven't tried it yet, still have to figure out if my S10 Blazer can clear the chasm on the road outside my driveway.
The water blocking our road will only go away if it is pumped. They have the pumps & hoses required to do it but they are being used to pump the water out of downtown. Maybe after it's clear they will hit our road, but I'm not counting on it.
Had someone picking up my prescriptions last Thursday for me in Lake City so I called all 8 of the meds I take in to the Pharmacy. Explaining that I needed all of them & that I was trapped back here. They only filled three of them, my insulin & blood thinners. This is the 2nd time this has happened. Called them immediately & was told we'll check into it. I am inclined to get out of here Monday am, drive to the pharm. -order the meds & wait for them. Leaving a piece of my mind behind with them. If you know what I mean.
Y'all take care...

GOOD EVENING GIRLS....Borrowed a fan from the living-room to come back here, as we still don't have AC. Jim took it apart today and said it wasn't caused by the power outage, it's a start switch that evidentlly's been going bad for a little while. Jim is going to try and order the part and fix it himself, OR we might have to call someone in that line of work....that could possibly take weeks! I guess we aren't as bad off as some in WV, I have friends that STILL don't have any Power at all...at least I can run a fan!
I've talked to Tiffany a few times today...they are all having a good time. Tonite was her nite to cook for everyone and the girls have their nites all picked out. The guys are going Deep Sea Fishing and they said that well be their contribution to a meal! Tiffany just called me a few minutes ago and her, my Sister, my Niece are at a little Cove Bar drinking Pina Coladias (sp?) and Margarittas(sp?) The guys are watching the kids. Now I'm worried because this place is about a mile from their place, but I'm thinking bad things can happen in that mile. Told her to call me ASAP she got back in the house. She said they were only staying for one drink! I'm a Nervous Momma!
**FAN, It was nice to see a smiling face each day! Your pics. are pretty, the sky is sooo blue!
**VICKI, You were talking about all the crops being subjected to the heat and the Farmers losing the crops....I hate for that to happen, but I bet it well. Your dinner Saturday sounded really good!
**MARTHA, Glad to hear you got a good rain and it cooled things down a bit. I would have broke down for a cherry pie too. I pick up some Strawberries and an Angels food Cake for our dessert tonite......of course we left the Cool Whip in the freezer.
**PATTI, Poor little Madison. Yea, you can't preform your best when you don't feel your best. She was probably real hard on herself. Hope she feels better soon. I love Baby Shopping too! Sometimes I'll see a wee little dress and pick it up and say, "Avayah, I remember when you use to be this little." Boy I hope you all don't have to dig out your cement porch to figure out about the water in the basement. Always something isn't it?
**PAT, Good luck to you a driving your truck through the field to the other road. Pray you don't get stuck! I'm thinking it wouldn't take too long for that water blocking your guys road to be pumped out of there and it would so help out alot of people. How many are stranded there because of the water? I think I'd be upset with the Pharmacy too. Good luck to you in all the inconveniences and I'll pray you have a better day around the corner.
OK, I need to take this fan back to Jim, so I'll TTYT. Sleep well. HUGS! _________________ Debbie
