Good morning everybody, have a great day Very Happy

Sounds cynical when most of you will wake up shocked by the Denver shooting. Just saw it in the headlines. Please, say a prayer for those concerned.
On a happier note I can tell you that our weather is improving, slightly warmer, sunny and the motley crew came out of hiding this morning. By now they have only a bit of down left on their necks, but are fully feathered everywhere else. Marvelous to see them having lunch Laughing Sure made me an appetite.

Just amazing how good everything looks when the sun returns in this part of the world Very Happy

Carolyn, glad to see you posting again. You sound as busy as ever, camping and now harvesting with canning in the near future. Slow down a bit girl, take care of your self and make sure that soreness goes away. Your hubby sure did a good job in recovering, loosing weight and getting active again.
PattiT, I'm dreading the preps already. Rolling Eyes Especially since I'm not allowed to drink any coffee.

Got my first batch of laundry already going. Need to try and finish doing as much of my chores as I can before cocktail hour tonight. TTYL

Good Morning, Friends!

I have a few minutes to pop in before starting my first batch of cookies for a picnic. I didn't want to make anything that would melt.

AND, we were blessed with rain yesterday!! This is the most rain some areas have received since June 1. Woohoo!!

Fan - I was surprised to hear about the Colorado shootings, too. Glad your weather is improving, too.

Have a great day!
~~Vicki

Hi all,

Remember I put on the BB about the little kitten that was abused and ended up dying?? They had someone write into the newspaper and they gave descriptions of what those kids did...I cried, had to get up and leave the table at work. They are trying to get into law "Wyatt's Law" to hold kids and their parents accountable for the hurt, pain & abuse to the animal(s). Gee, that just angers me so much........ Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

Vicki - we've had rain the past few days, I am so glad...every thing is starting to look a live again. Smile

Fan - Can't get over the chicks being so fluffy...cute!!

Hope everyone has a good day,
Ann

Good afternoon girls. I don't seem to be getting anything accomplished today. Well, I did give my coffee maker a good cleaning and descaling, but that is about all. I had a surprise visit from one of my sons, a long phone call from my sister, hubby called, Dr.s office called harumph, guess I just wasn't meant to get much done today. It is very gloomy and damp today.

Hearing the news about that shooting sure puts a damper on everyone's day. So sad and so random. Seems like you have to worry about safety every where you go and for that matter even at home. I just can't believe the things that people will do. Not as tragic as those shootings but in our area there has been a rash of robberies while people are at funerals. Kick these poor people while they are down, jeesh.

We got a pretty heavy rain last evening, which we needed, but the ground around where they were digging yesterday has caved in. I guess I will have to call and let them know. I didn't want to call today when it is raining, they are coming back to get the paint off the patio where they had spray painted the route of the digging, since they changed their path.

**Carolyn, it sure is a busy time for gardeners. I think we have some things out there that are rotting because I can't get down to pick them. Of course I am sure your garden in huge while ours is quite small. Glad to hear that hubby is recovering so well. Sure is sad to hear that you are still in pain. Take good care of yourself and come back again soon.

**Fan, some of the most beautiful pictures seem to be of close ups of various things. Loved the flower picture and of course the one of out feathered friends. The white one is the mom I am guessing.
EEeeeeek, I had forgot about not having coffee, yes that will be rough.
Have a cocktail for me this evening. I am sure I would enjoy it.
**Vicki, I hope that you will have nice weather for your picnic. What kind of cookies did you end up making? I sure have been missing your posts. How is everyone doing?
**Ann, I try not to watch/read things about animals that I know will make me sad. Son was telling me today about a movie or special he was watching last night about dogs, he said the first part was about people being afraid of them, then when the next part started and he realized it was about when your dogs pass away he had to turn the channel. He is a lot like his Mom. I hate the thought of children or animals being mistreated or dieing.

We have a full weekend of swimming events starting bright and early tomorrow so I don't know how much I will be able to check in here over the weekend. Hope everyone has a nice one.

Good Afternoon, Friends!

Well, one type of cookies are made. HOWEVER, I may make another batch. The first ones are a tart lemon cookie rolled in powdered sugar. They taste fine, but are a little crumbly. The second batch will be Snickerdoodles (cinnamon/sugar).

Question
: Would using the egg yolk instead of a whole egg make a cookie less crumbly?

Ann
- I agree with Patti. I just can't watch or read about animal abuse. Glad that you had rain, too.

Patti - I have been on the run.... then, plenty to catch up on when I've been home. Thanks for the reminder... I need to clean my coffee maker, too. Smile I read that you have repairs going on, but can't locate the post stating what you needed repaired.

Off to finish making dinner!
~~Vicki

Hey Y'all:

I can't watch the ASPCA ad on tv, I have to change the channel & wait for it to be over. I really get so upset when I see those kind of things.

Went to Walmart today to pick up gs's ps3 he ordered. Took him forever to save up the money for it. His 3 friends will be here Sunday & then 2 are going to spend the night.

Also picked up my mail again. Some material I had ordered came in. Having to order material online is a pain in the butt....but there are no fabric stores in town. Walmart eliminated their fabric dept. & no amount of complaining will get it back.

Hope y'all have a great weekend...

Take care...
