good morning ladies and axel. we got upyesterday morning and went grocery shopping. Saved some on price matching at WM. Then came home and cleaned the kitchen.Friday Jim put me up a shelf in the kitchen over my work bench. So I reorganized a lot of stuff in there. We had to rearrange some things in order to light the heater. I put up some more Halloween decorations yesterday too. here is the album of them if you want to see them. I love decorating this old house, perfect for Halloween. Still need to paint it but will probably not get to it until spring now.

Martha- good that you can spend time with your mom, I am sure that she appreciates it. My sister's MIL is like that too. She lives with them now, and won't eat unless Shirley fixes it for her and reminds her to eat. My sis doesn't go anywhere a lot anymore cause she can't leave her and she doesn't want to go anywhere.
It is cold here today too, supposed to get in to the upper 30's tomorrow night.
Tango- Our neighbors down the road have a pen full of hunting dogs and we can hear them barking all of the time.
Fan- Shopping and taking pictures. 2 things I love to do, too.Glad the sun came out for you.
Axel-Early day for you as usual. Still cooking for everyone huh? Your menu sounds yummy.
Carolyn- glad your tests came out good.Apple pie sounds good. I should be in the kitchen baking something, but we don't need to eat that many sweets, since it is only me and Jim to eat it. It is hard to make something for 2 servings, We will eat too much if I make a full cake or pie.
Vicky- Leaves are changing here too, I have never heard of apple cider syrup, sounds interesting. I will have to look it up.
Ann- Stay warm, it sounds like you have the same temps that we do.
Hello to Pattit, Debbie, and anyone else that I may have missed.
Have a good weekend.
I will talk to ya'll tomorrow. _________________ Once in a while I dream that a gigantic squirrel is carrying me away. Does that make me a NUT? |

Hi everybody, have a fantastic Sunday
I've managed to do a whole lot of things today like sleeping in , having a relaxed breakfast , doing laundry , cleaning windows , uploading pics , and so on. Not bad for a Sunday.
I promised you some pics from yesterday, so here we go. The first one was taken inside the small church, one of the oldest in the northern part of the Netherlands, dating from the 11th century.
The tombstones spread out over the floor are mainly from the 16th and 17th century, but they count as some of the finest pieces of tombstone carving skills in Northern Europe.
The ladies found in the cellar were noble ladies.
From one of them there was a painted portrait
After that we had to go to the local pub for coffee and a piece of super yummy apple cranberry pie,
and a walk through the tiny village.
I took a lot of pics, in case you would like to see more, you'll find them at

Grammadot, awesome decorations . Pity you couldn't join me in seeing the cellar graves, you would have loved it
Ann-Marie, lucky you. I feel the need for some warmth too. Have fun at work.
Martha, I would have shaking on my legs too. Luckily we don't have that many deers in the country to see it often, but I do stumble upon a lot of small road kills like ducks, pigeons, rabbits, cats and so on. I'll never get used to the sight of it. _________________ Fanmajie

Cleaned 2 dishwashers for a friend, took pictures of them & posted them on Craig's list. I have locks on the crawl space doors & I can't find the keys???? I've looked everywhere still nothing?? I did find a fifty dollar bill, SWEET!!! I also cleaned out my car & put the back seat down & have tones of space in there!!

Hi Everyone!
Carolyn - I'm really happy to read that cancer is off the table.
I know every day I've been saying... today is the day for the site switch! Yesterday was supposed to be the day but we upgraded servers and there was some technical issues with the hardware (If you've ever updated your computers with firmware or any updates.. you probably know how frustrating that can be).
Anyhoo... we're ready to do the switch. I'm just waiting for our lead developer to spend the day with his family. So remember... a link to the forums will be in the footer of every page on BakeSpace. You can also bookmark bakespace.com/forums. Forum posts will still be in the right hand columns of some oages like they are now.
What's really changing it the home page and the shell of the site - the core functionality and body of the design is staying the same. We are doing this in phases. If you have seen our app then you'll get the idea of where the design is going.. more woods, rich colors, etc. We also changed the menu bar -- we took out "members" as well because we realized those pages needed some work... and they allowed our spammers to go in quickly and send messages to members.
Once the new site is up, we're open to suggestions... this is not the final design, just the start. I think it will highlight the best of the site for the new people who check in. They will get to see what the site is about.
Just so you know.. the forums in the move have a few minor design flaws we're working on sorting out -- I'd like to just bring the forums on to the main site and start fresh so it's easy for new folks to join in the conversation. If we kept these pages for archiving but created a simple forum that runs with the main database.. would you guys mind that? It means there will be some members who can post spam, but we'd build in a tool where you can flag a member and that post will disappear until approved. That way we can keep the forums clean, but allow more folks to join us.
Ok, back to work! Have a great weekend guys! I know it's just 12 more hours... but make the most out of it! |

Today is a church and family day: Church this morning, family for lunch, and more family members arriving in a few minutes. AND, the sun is finally coming out on SUNDAY!!
Axel - Your temperatures cooled down to 93, while temps near my home were in the upper-30's. The French Toast Bake must have been a hit yesterday!
Fan - I hope to head to one of the Dutch stores in the next couple weeks to buy Dutch sausage. Some grocery stores/supermarkets will carry Dutch sausage as a seasonal item near Christmas, too. Thanks for sharing your pictures. I'll be sure to check flickr, too.
Martha - The Farmer's Market, supermarkets, and Costco all had unpasteurized cider. But, only one supermarket and Costco had it under $5. I just checked the label... from Wisconsin (cider is usually local).
Ann - The grandchildren are visiting this afternoon.... furnace on for the first time. Didn't make it to November 1.
Patti (gramma) - Cider syrup is: Cider simmered uncovered for approximately six hours. Pour into a jar and serve over pancakes, waffles, or desserts.
Tango - Wow! You accomplished a lot yesterday!!
Babette - Is this why the site was down last night?

Exactly - we had updated the hardware and there was a big issue when we rebooted. One of those... "Oh shoot" moments. LOLOL We didn't not expect it to be down for so long, but our developer had his son's birthday party at 4pm so we had to cut short work and pick it back up when he got back. Bad timing. He felt really bad. But it's all good now.
One thing you'll notice on the main site is no more bar at the bottom of the page or ad unit at the top that will open when you move your mouse around.
Now the forums will still have an ad unit and the bar and wrong footer. I'll ask our team to take the bar off once he gets through the relaunch. The menu bar might look a little funny.
I really hope you guys like the new design.. I'm really excited and should know right away if new people find it good - the page views should double because the recipes on the home page are just that tasty looking.
Wish us luck. We are starting the move around 1pm today. If you find the site down for a few minutes... it will not be like yesterday.
Excited!!!!!!!!! |

Hey everyone.. the forums luckily didn't change much. But take a peak at the rest of the site. Let me know what you think... Just click on the logo to go to the home page.
P.s. We are still working on quirks and page spacing, font colors, etc. |

Hey everyone - checking in to say hi -
Friday was a busy day - CPT. T.H.Brown, USMC was returned to his family after more than 60 years - He was killed in action at the Chosin Reservoir in Dec. 1950. http://www.chosinreservoir.com/nytimesarticle.htm
We prepped and served a luncheon for family and friends after interment in the family plot - approx 80 people attended.
We spent the afternoon making favors for an upcoming luncheon meeting - then hosted our Auxiliary First Friday Dinner - I made Kasha and bows.
Saturday was rest and laundry - and today is bunches of little stuff
As I read through the posts, I'm glad to have the Bakespace family.
Thanks for being here - feel better - have fun - enjoy the weather - bundle up - keep the pictures coming - feed me - _________________ ... Pat ...
