Vicki said - I'm assuming you're referring to the beef and not the vegetable mixture. (???) What substitutions do you recommend?
The meat can change - and so can the veggies - to a degree - I especially like the potato-turnip-apple-onion with parsley mash up.
4 large potatoes - 1 small turnip - 1 medium apple - 1 small onion - S&P - milk - Butter -parsley
you can mix 2-3 different meat cuts also
Babette - does the cookbook idea mean we lose the ability to have the conversations about changes or variations or how to's on the recipes? - We do get a lot of comment on some of them - would this be lost? _________________ ... Pat ...

Pat - I was assuming the Mock Duck referred to the meat. After doing a Google Search, I saw recipes for hamburger, round steak, and chicken as well as Asian and vegetarian versions.

CROCK POT BAKED POTATO SOUP
3 lbs. red or white potatoes, washed really well and cubed...don't peel
enough chicken stock to cover potatoes
salt and pepper
8 oz. cream cheese
shredded cheddar cheese
crumbled bacon
scallions
Combine potatoes, chicken stock, salt and pepper into crock pot.
6 hours on high
8 hours on low
Add the cream cheese to hot potatoes, and blend with immersion blender. Leave some of the potatoes chunky.
(if you over blend it will get too starchy)
Serve with the shredded cheese, bacon, scallions or whatever you would put on a baked potato.
When I reheated it, it was a little too thick, so I added some milk to it. You could use more stock too if you have it. _________________ Karen

Good question... kind of. You can leave comments on the cookbook itself so everyone else can see them in the app and website. Or you can add the comments to the recipes themselves once you submit.
What makes the cookbook idea work is the search function. (note we're still working on the website side of this search) but I can tell you how it works in the app... say you're looking for a chocolate chip cookie recipe you know you made with the group at some point over the last year. Instead of searching by the forum post and having to go through them by text, the app indexes each recipe individually... so you'll see the pictures and the author and can narrow down the search quickly. |

Karen - Thanks for posting the Crockpot Baked Potato Soup. I'll make it this week or next week.
Babette - If we made a Breakfast Club Cookbook, could it be a "group cookbook" where everyone could post and comment?

No, I haven't purchased Halloween candy in years. However, I did buy a package of Rolo's to make this recipe with my granddaughters.
You can really use a a variety of chocolate candy: chocolate kisses, small chocolate Easter eggs, small pieces of candy bars, etc...
~~Vicki
CHOCOLATE FILLED SNOWBALLS
1 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cup flour
1 cup nuts, chopped (optional)
Chocolate kisses, Rolo's, etc. (see above)
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Beat butter, sugar, and vanilla until creamy. Stir in flour and nuts.
- Shape dough around candy kisses using about 1 tablespoon of dough.
- Place on lightly greased cookie sheet and bake for about 12 minutes. Remove and roll in powdered sugar. _________________

Good morning all you wonderful people from around the world and from and from around the block,
Vicki that looks like an excellent recipe, especially since it has chocolate in it. You mentioned that you haven't purchased halloween candy in years, well since we live on a major street we never had kids coming over for Halloween, but we purchase candy for the Harvest Festival at our church. The Harvest Festival is not only for the members of our church, but for the whole community, so that the kids have a save environment and the parents don't have to worry what is in the candy. Last night we heard on the news that parents should be on the alert for marijuana lazed candy.
Have a Super Day!
Aloha ke Akua,
Axel & Kathie
