VICKI....I want to take this opportunity to tell you that I appreciate you keeping our Recipe section going. I always look froward to seeing what Beautiful Graphic you'll be using and they never cease to surprise me in their beauty!
Now for my recipe and I know it's late, BUT it can be done with Christmas in mind or any Holiday for that matter.
*****HALLOWEEN CHEX MIX*****
INGREDIENTS:
8 oz. white chocolate chips
4 cups Kellogg's CrispX cereal
2 cups bite-size Pretzels twists
1 cup candy corn candy
1/4 cup Betty Crocker Orange and Black Candy decors
DIRECTIONS:
1.) In a large bowl measure out your cereal and pretzels, gently mix to combine. Set aside.
2.) Micro-wave Chocolate on high for 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 mix...stirring every 30 seconds. Stirring is very important so as NOT to scorch the choc. Do this til melted! Pour melted choc over the cereal and pretzels that you had set aside. Toss gently, trying NOT to break the cereal. Add the candy corn and the candy decor candies, give it one more gentle stir to mix everything together.
3.) Spread on wax paper that has been either put on a large cookie sheet or directly on the counter or table. Let cool completely and then break into pieces, bite size preferably. Store loosely covered.
very good and habit forming too! _________________ Debbie

Debbie - This sounds like a great snack mix. I may bring it to a Thanksgiving and/or Christmas gathering.

Apple Bread
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Spray loaf pan with non-stick spray.
Dry mixture:
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons cinnamon
dash or two of allspice
Wet mixture:
1 large egg beaten
1 1/4 cup apple sauce
1/2 cup plain yogurt or sour cream
1/4 cup oil
3/4 cup dark brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 medium apple chopped
1/4 cup chopped dates or raisins
Whisk the dry ingredients. Combine the wet ingredients. Now add the wet to the dry and mix just until combined. It is okay if ingredients are not totally blended, you don't want to over mix.
Pour unto loaf pan.
You can add a crumb topping or nuts to top of loaf, optional.
Bake for 50 minutes or until toothpick comes out with nothing on it.
I was nervous about this baking out of the loaf pan so I put some in a mini loaf pan also. Now, I don't think it would have baked over.
Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then place on wire rack and cool for another 15 minutes or so. I then wrapped mine in tin foil so it would be nice and moist.
Enjoy! _________________ Patti

PattiT - My family likes most quick breads. I may have to pick up more whole wheat flour to try your recipe. Thanks for sharing.

If your family only likes turkey breast OR your don't want to cook a whole turkey, here is a delicious recipe.
====================
I have put off making this recipe for years, thinking it would taste "too fruity." Instead, we enjoyed a pleasant, flavorful turkey breast. I used six pound (bone-in) turkey breast, which sliced perfectly - 15 minutes after removal from the slow cooker. The drippings make delicious gravy, too.

TASTY CROCKPOT - SLOW COOKER TURKEY BREAST posted by many on TOH, especially Cubbybear and Susie
1 thawed turkey breast (5 to 7 pounds)
1 envelope onion soup mix
1 can cranberry sauce, whole or jellied (I used jellied)
- Place thawed turkey breast in slow cooker. Add onion soup mix and cranberry sauce.
- Cook on High for 2 hours. Then, Low for 5 to 6 hours. Baste occasionally.
Temperature should be at 165 degrees. Remove from crockot. Cover and let rest 15 to 20 minutes before slicing. _________________

* REVIEW - Costco's Kirkland Swift Premium Pork Sirloin Tip Roast *
Have you tried the Kirkland Swift Premium Pork Sirloin Tip Roast from Costco? These roasts are sold in a four-pack, each roast is individually vacuumed packed The roast I took out for dinner this evening is 1.14 pounds... perfect for a meal this evening, and leftovers for future meals.
Either
-- Rub 1) olive oil, and 2) your favorite spice blend.
-- OR, marinate overnight, using your favorite marinade.
Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 40 minutes, approximately. Temperature should register 160 degrees (according to manufacturer's directions).
These small roasts are perfect for small households at a small price ($1.99 per pound).

Crispy Chicken
TOH Quick Cooking Premiere Issue
1-1/2 cups crisp cereal, coarsely crushed
2 Tbsp all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon poultry seasoning
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
4 boneless skinless chicken breast halves (about 1 pound)
IN a shallow bowl, combine cereal, flour and seasonings. Place butter in another bowl. Dip chicken in butter, then into cereal mixture. Place in a greased 11 x 7 2-in. baking pan. Drizzle with remaining butter. Bake, uncovered, at 400ยบ for 20-25 minutes or until juices run clear.
I got some of my TOH magazines out the other night, looked through them and found lots of recipes to try. Since I wanted "real food" when I came home from work yesterday, this is the one I picked out. Jim made this with smashed taters and green beans...was AWESOME!! _________________ http://bakespace.com/?ann_marie_pa

Ann - What kind of crisp cereal did you use... corn flakes, rice krispies, or something else? Fan made Danielle's Teriyaki chicken today. Now, I have another chicken recipe (yours/TOH). Can't wait!
