Good day everybody, have a brilliant weekend Very Happy

Vicki, no market today for me. By 7am thunderclouds kicked in and I decided to run my groceries in my street, just in case of a cloud burst Laughing . Yet it still took another three hours before the rain came down. In the mean time we had Mini to keep us entertained and delaying our coffee break. She decided to jump out the open window and put up a show on the shop's wall board. No big deal.

But instead of jumping back through the open window Mini decided to make a detour walking on the small window pane of the closed window on the other side of the board, trying to turn around and go back. But she had no space to turn and fell on the sun screen Laughing

and with no way of jumping up, her pop had to come to the rescue to get her down with a ladder.

After that we did manage to have our coffee outside on the pavement, but it was cut short by a real down pour of rain that lasted till 3 pm. Not very appealing to go out in, though it did make it less muggy and slightly cooler.
Spent the rest of the day with my household chores and the laundry. Hopefully it'll be cooler and more comfortable tomorrow. Need to figure out what I'll do to the cauliflower I have.
So what else is happening today?

Fan – What's up with no potatoes? That's odd. I could see no carrots or anything crunchy, but potatoes? Had to giggle that you commented on Patti hiding the mushrooms from me in her spaghetti sauce.  Loved your CSI moment. Too funny! That second pic of Mini looks like she's saying Quit taking pictures and get me down from here!!

Patti – As much as I love them, I have yet to make fried green tomatoes myself. Hope your son's chemo is going OK. I remember my mom going through it when I was a kid and it was just awful. Not sure how much that might have changed over the years.

Vicki – I know that turtles are slow movers, but that one must be SUPER slow to have moss growing on him. Yikes! Hope you scored big by hitting the farmer's market early.

Martha – Strange that your diverticulosis is kicking up now. The guy I work closest to at my office was complaining about that on Friday as well. Unlike you, I'm a wuss and would never want to watch a surgery up close and personal. Strangely though, I'm a huge horror movie fan. I know that's fake, so it doesn't bother me, but the real stuff … no thanks! Wish I lived near you to get any kind of berries for $1.99 a pint! They're closer to $4 here, which is why I hardly ever buy them. I can sometimes find a good deal in the freezer section, but not usually the fresh. Debbie is around – she posted a slightly premature B-Day wish on my Facebook page yesterday.

Tango – Glad to see you're back and through the worst. Hope the infection was related to the surgery and you didn't pick up C-Dif or something else at the hospital. That bites when you go in for one thing and pick up something else along the way! Awesome news re: your pathology reports – WOO HOOOOOOOOOOO.

Carolyn – Hope the hearing went well for your daughter??

A friend of mine the other day sent me an e-mail about a restaurant in Arizona the, for National Hot Dog Day the other day, served up hot dogs slathered in peanut butter and crumbled bacon, served in a split Twinkie for a bun. I had some phyllo in the fridge from those recent wedding showers, as well as bacon, so that inspired me to make a Peanut/Bacon/Chocolate Paklava lol. Took it to work yesterday, and I heard that everyone kept walking past it for a while afraid to try it, but once someone daring gave it a shot, most of it quickly disappeared LOL.

Good morning everybody, rise and shine Very Happy

Breakfast is calling... that is lunch in my case Wink . Anyone for a minced meat and cheese tartlet?

Was cloudy this morning and almost chilly, so I had kitchen play time. Laughing
Tango, glad the pics cheered you up a bit. Hang in there.
Chris, I would love to have tried the peanut/bacon and chocolate baklava. I haven't had the guts yet to combine peanut butter and chocolate yet. Let alone with bacon.

?!?!?! How could you not combine peanut butter and chocolate? That's a CLASSIC combination a la Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Yummmmmm. Peanut butter and banana is another good combo, but I wasn't about to try adding banana to Paklava lol.

Laughing Laughing Reese's peanut butter cups obviously never made it into the Netherlands. Only my nephew combines peanut butter and chocolate sprinkles on his sandwiches and refuses to eat his bread without peanut butter. The peanut and banana combo is known because of Elvis Presley, but hardly anyone eats it. Smile .
I made a blue cheese sauce with some leftover minced meat from this morning to go along with my cauliflower. Turned out really yummy.

We would never eat well together lol - have to add both cauliflower and bleu cheese to my list of no thank you's along with the mushrooms. I did, however, have a milk chocolate bar in the fridge, so our conversation made me slather it in peanut butter for a not-so-nutritious lunch. Wink

I bet my nephew would have loved to eat that instead of what my sis cooks Laughing.

I figured I better check in here while I can. My granddaughter is spending the week with us and she will occupy me most of the time. The rest of the family is going to the baseball game without me, I had a pretty bad sore throat yesterday along with an earache. I figured I better take it easy today so I will be able to keep Madison from being bored while she is here. I baked some cupcakes and they are cooling so that we can decorate them tomorrow. We will be making 20 cupcakes so I invited her Mom and Dad to have dinner with us. I need people to help eat them and maybe take some to work with them.
Our mutual friend is really dealing with a lot. I feel so bad for her. I hope the family can all help each other through this.
**Fan, looks like you had some feline escapades in your neighborhood. Glad mini made it down to safety. Your two meals looked good to me, I would have to switch out the cheese on the cauliflower though, hubby is the only one here that likes Blue Cheese.
**Tango, it will probably take a long time to get back to nearly normal strength and stamina. Take it easy and enjoy taking it slow for a while. Do you have someone helping you out?
**Chris, I think the chemo might not be as bad as it used to be, but be sure it is still not an easy thing. I barely recognize my son. I am so glad that he has his friend Tina there to help him. She is unbelievable and will not understand how amazing she is.

Talking about kids liking chocolate, when we were at chocolate world in Hershey yesterday there was an extended Indian ( not American Indian) family and they had each bought one of the huge candy bars and were passing them back and forth until they were all eaten. I told my SIL "Chocolate it's whats for dinner." I don't know how they didn't get sick eating that much chocolate. The younger kids were zipping around and we laughed about the sugar rush they must all be feeling.
I need to clean out some drawers and a closet area for Madison in her room, she has stuff in there from when she was a baby. Time to get rid of a lot of things. Then hopefully we can get her to unpack her bags and feel at home. I am pretty excited about having her here, in case you couldn't figure that out.

Gotta get busy, I am going to make up some frosting to have ready. (I despise canned frosting.)
I will check in when I can.

Patti - My Mom's sister got of "easy" by having two bouts with breast cancer and only requiring radiation. It certainly wasn't any fun, but she didn't get so much as a "sunburn" from it. Now I tease her about having tattoos - they do that to line up the machine. I keep waiting for "my turn." Seems like that's how it will go, but I have to admit to being terrible about getting checked. Not having health ins. doesn't help, but I probably still wouldn't be going. Have to sit down and figure out all the new health ins. laws soon. Sux that if I could afford it, I'd already have it, but now I'll be forced to get it even though I can't afford it and never use it. Sigh. Watch, with my luck, as soon as I get it, I'll get sick or break something lol. Yup about our other friend - wish we could all be there for a huge group hug! About that Indian family and the chocolate - wish we could have been a fly on the wall later to see what a whole family on a simultaneous sugar crash looked like. Wink Your son is very lucky to have such a great support network through this.
