Please share these ideas! Smile

Kasha and Bows -- this has a pleasant nutty flavor.

Kasha (buckwheat groats) has a recipe on the box - it is good, however, to make it the "old way" - mince a small onion and sauté in light oil - when transparent, add Kasha - stir to combine with onions - let cook another 4-5 minutes, stir often, to toast the grain. Add 1 well beaten egg - and stir constantly till Kasha appears dry and the grains are separate - a few minutes - add stock or broth - stir - cook till just done - in the meantime, cook bow noodles (1/2 the amount of Kasha - 2 C. dry Kasha = 1 C dry noodles) - when kasha is done, gently fold in bows - serve with gravy.....

Leftovers are very good mixed with beaten egg and made into an omelet.

Question: Do you have recipes for raw or cooked turnips? I have five pounds of turnips (by accident).

My favorite - is a Pennsylvania Dutch mash

start by boiling, mashing and freezing your turnips - 1 cup baggies

Basic mash -
4-6 potatoes, 1 large apple, 1 small onion, 1 cup turnips - butter, milk, S & P, Parsley

Best dressed mash -
ADD - Peas and grated cheese to Basic

Sunday Company -
ADD - kraut and chopped ham to Best dressed
