It's cold here and the leaves are all off the trees. I'm going to see if I can figure out how to post a picture here at Bakespace. This is my third try, so obviously I'm not doing too well! If it works this time, this is a piece of my yard in bloom...

HI Toni, You had a beautiful backyard! I love the way you have your flower beds laid out. And your lawn is soooo green. Do you use soap on it? It's supposed to be healthy for it. Yes, it's sad to see everything go to sleep for the winter, but it will bloom again! Great Job of posting the pictures too and thnaks for sharing with us! Have a great evening...Debbie _________________ Debbie

Laura, I'm in the middle of the Long Island NY on the south shore along the ocean. I'd gladly send winter out your way if I could figure how the heck to get rid of it LOL! I wait all winter to garden - I hate it when there are no leaves on the trees from November through May - yuck! Trade you winter for some cake |

Patti, a garden thread would be great! It'd be neat to see. After our son's engagement party in August which we hosted at home for 175 people, the grass took a little time to recover!
DH raises japanese koi by hand. I always tell him that if I were dependent upon him to harvest MY eggs and segregate them, we would never have had kids LOL! We have four ponds. This past week, we have been visited by a very hungry Great Blue Heron who is using our koi as h'ors doeuvres! DH is about ready to have a canary - he already lost a $500 fish and a couple of smaller ones. Of course the State Environmental Agency tells us they are protected and we are not even supposed to yell at the darned thing!
Funny story == the first time he saw the heron two years ago, he came running through the house saying a "pterydactyl" was in his ponds and just flew away with a fish. I thought he was crazy and I've been teasing him about it for years and telling anyone who would listen. Yesterday, for the first time, I got to see the heron fly away when DH went back there -- I'll be darned if it didn't look like something from the Flintstones LOL! It was huge - you could actually hear the sound as its wings flapped. Poor man is getting grayer by the day!
Eric, I'm Long Island born and bred and live a few miles off the Atlantic, one of my favorite places. Actually, my parents house is about 6 blocks away from where I bought my house. I'm a creature of habit, I guess. DH is a city kid from Brooklyn though. |
