After I posted my story, I saw a few things I wanted to change and wasn't able edit my post either.

The holidays are always alittle hard. My husband's family lives in Maine and my family is all in California. I have a rather small family. My sister, Brother in Law, niece and my parents. Last year my husband and our famiy moved to southern California. This year my family is coming to visit us and we are having Thanksgiving here. We start the day off with a nice breakfast and then move onto getting the turkey in the oven. This year we are having a Turducken! You ask, what in world is that? It is a chicken, in a duck, in a turkey. A few years ago we saw a special on Food Network about these Turducken's. We decided this was going to be the year we try it. Here's a link that talks about theTurducken!

We make most all of the holiday traditions to go along with our turkey, this year our Turducken! We have a few appetizers to get us through the great smelling food that is cooking. Football is normally on the TV and or the parade. This year we are going to get out some games to play too. With not having my family close anymore, I thought it would be great quality time playing some family games.

My table is always set for the holidays in a beautiful manner. We go outside and get a medium sized twig and put in a vase with small rocks or marbles in it. We place cut out leaves on the table with a marker. We ask everyone to take a leaf and write one or more things that they are thankful for. This is the centerpiece for my table. Always adorned with candles too. This year I am making several candle holders. I got small votive holders in circles and triangles from Walmart. I got leaf picks, rubberbands and ribbon. You put one rubberband around your holder. Cut off 3 leaves and put them under the rubberband. Tie a bow around the rubber band, place a candle inside and you have a beautiful festive candle. They are really pretty! We always end the evening with pumpkin and apple pies.

Happy Thanksgiving from my home to yours! Enjoy your family and friends and remember those things that you are thankful for this year!

We have Thanksgiving at my sister-in-law's every year because she has four young children and it's easier for everyone to go to her, except for one thing. She lives out in Chino Hills. I consider it Timbuktu. Then to top it off, they would overcook the turkey, make gravy from a jar as well as the cranberry sauce. So, over the years I have taught them how to cook a turkey. I got her a thermometer, roaster, rack, you name it. Then I cook most everything else here and take it to Timbuktu. That's why I need an SUV.

The good, they are japanese and we also have sushi and other japanese delights, which they are very good at.
