It looks like everyone has a big meal ahead for Thanksgiving. My daughter's family are eating with her inlaws. Consequently, we will make only 2 or 3 turkey drumsticks with stuffing (dressing OR filling). Very Happy

As I just signed on, I saw LindaChicken as one of the featured chefs, too. Congratulations. (Is Babette changing the featured chefs more than once per day?)

Patti, great idea to have everyone bring containers for leftovers. My mother-in-law used to save containers similar to Cool Whip, and send home leftovers.

Good afternoon everyone!

I feel a little guilty - everyone is so busy getting ready for Thanksgiving and here is sit relaxing and just enjoying my day at home. I did wash green onions and took cream cheese out of the fridge so it could soften a bit. Later I'll go to the kitchen and chop the onions and beef and make my cheeseball. Preparing my cheesecake ( since I took the lazy way out) I just have to remove it from the box and wrapping and place it in my pie taker. I hope I don't get too tired from all this work! Laughing

Debbie - you asked yesterday what kind of cheeseball I make. It's just your plain old dried beef and green onion cheeseball. My family probably wouldn't eat any other kind - they aren't too keen on trying anything different. Here is the recipe

2 (8-oz.) packages cream cheese
4 green onions
2 small packages dried beef or 1 large, chopped
1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp. soy sauce
1/4 tsp. Tabasco (pepper sauce)

Chop onions and beef. Mix cream cheese; add the three sauces, onions and beef. Save some of the beef to put on the cheese ball.

I have been a little sad - this is my first Thanksgiving without my mother. Last year she wasn't doing well and we were not able to take her to my sisters house so I had lunch with her at the nursing home. She was so bad that she didn't enjoy her meal and barely ate her pie (I knew there was something wrong when Mom passed up dessert), so the aids just put her to bed and I left. I had planned to stay home tomorrow, but my eldest sister really wants me to go to her house, so that is where I'll be.

I guess I had better go and get that cheeseball made.

Good morning Holly, Linda W, Vicki, Debbie, Suzanne, Kenna Lou, Linda L, Babbette, Sheryle and anyone who will pop in after me.

I will be baking pies and getting last minute prep done. Yesterday I washed all the good china, silver and charger plates, set up the table (it looks beautiful if you ask me Very Happy), then I covered it with a clean white sheet. Need to run to the store because I forgot napkins and drinks , dahh Rolling Eyes . I also have to take my Mother to the Dentist today too, bad timing but can’t change the appointment.

Well ladies, I want to wish you all a very Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving Day and if you go out on Black Friday I wish a good parking space close to the mall and lot‘s of good bargains Very Happy . As for me I have to take my Mother to the Doctor and then to lunch and…..maybe a peek in at the mall Laughing .

Talk to you all on the weekend if not sooner (you know this computer just calls my name all the time Laughing).

Oops almost forgot. Congratulations Linda Ann and LC on being featured chefs. Very Happy
Also Sheryle your cheese ball sounds great and I copied to try, thank you. What exactly is dried beef and how is it packaged so I know how to find it? Is it the little packages of meat you make SOS out of in the deli section like Buddig?

((((Sheryle)))) Your sweet Momma is watching you from a better place this year my friend. I keep telling myself that about my darling husband who will be greatly missed this Thanksgiving too Sad . (I didn’t cook last year since it was so soon after his passing so this year will be really different without him at the head of the table). Enjoy you day everyone and don't forget to tell your loved ones how much they mean to you Very Happy .

To Babette or anyone who knows.
I just noticed under my name it says Jr Sous Chef. How did that get there and how do they determine which kind I am? I noticed about three or so kinds?
Too cute Very Happy
This site is always evolving and that's what I like about it, something new to learn all the time, makes this old mind work Laughing .

Jan,

I can understand why you didn't feel like celebrating Thanksgiving last year - I hope you have a great one this year.

Yes dried beef is the Buddig beef.

This was posted on yesterdays thread explaining about our new chef titles. I think they are cute too.
