Babette was very kind to take off a post that was very offensive. It was about me and the board.
Thank you Babette.
Linda

Hi Linda... Yes, that post from Cathy last night was a bit aggressive and lacked social graces. I think she didn't realize I was the owner of the site and would want to befriend her. I also think it was unfriendly to put down other member's posts... As for her complaints, I looked them up and the tea room is working fine, there are three recipes for what she was seeking and if anyone else wants to go to recipezaar or allrecipes to join her that's ok, they server a purpose that is seperate from BakeSpace. Keep in mind they have also beein in business for 4 years which might explain why they have more sweet potato recipes then we do.

(note: if you're looking for a recipe and can't find it here.. there's a reason we have the bulletin board in your kitchen... send out a network wide bulletin to request a recipe or post a request here).

(Note #2: If you notice that the posts in the BB are old, they are really just starting off poinits for conversations... all the first posts are from me asking a question... if someone would prefer a better way to organize them or find a way to get people to talk, let me know... )

Anyhow, we deleted the post because we felt that her message points should have been brought up in an email to the company.

This is a good lesson in patience for me... the site is finding it's way and we're attracting people who know that kitchens aren't just about the food, they are about the conversations you have around the table. Today is a perfect example of how powerful that connection is.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I didn't see the post and frankly, I'm glad I didn't Thank you for keeping this board clean and friendly. Thats why I like to visit. I like the leading questions, they do help start some conversations. And that is a good thing. As for requests, I see so many requests and everyone is so helpful in finding what the person wanted or telling them how to find it. I just want to go on record as saying, I like bakespace and think you guys are doing a wonderful job. And thank you for not letting 1 or 2 spoil it for all of us.

Smile Babette: I am like Calamity Jane and did not see the post. I really appreciate you taking care of it for us. It is so sad when things like that happen. I hate that you would have to just make the rooms available for members to post but if that is what you have to do, I agree. I am thankful for you setting up BakeSpace where we can come and meet new friends and get new recipes.

I agree with Calamity Jane and Anita. I come here not only for recipes but to make friends, and I've met a lot of wonderful people since I've joined BakeSpace. I'm thankful that you do your best to keep spam and trouble makers away - we had a lot of this on the Taste of Home BB and the fact that this is a moderated board is what drew me here. It would be great if you could keep this a registration fee board, but if it takes registration to keep the uglies away, then I say do it.

Babette - I think you have a wonderful board and I think most people here would agree with me.

Babette, I read that unfriendly post and couldn't believe someone would say some of the things she said. I agree you certainly can't compare this board with recipezaar or some others, but they are totally different and yes they have been around a lot longer. I for one love the way this board is going and am looking forward to being here a long time. I have felt guilty since I read it and didn't reply, please forgive me for not "sticking up" for you.

You're so sweet Patti,
Just so you guys know, we deleted the post not because she said something about BakeSpace, but because she insulted another member which is a violation of our board. We can take any form of criticism, but by bringing another member into the mix we had no other choice but to delete the post. We do believe in free speech here.. Smile
