Has anyone given their pet an alternate name? Also does your pet respond?

Was just curious as we occasionally call Misty...Misty-Moo and she does respond. Randy never had another nickname. Husband has been calling Chance...Chancey Pants and well he responds. LOL. I too have picked up the habit of calling him Chancey Pants.

Just curious. And also wondering if husband and I are just off our rockers.

OMG, Lids, I'm cracking up so glad I'm not alone....

When I adopted my Maltese from a friend, she was already named "Baby", the girls were small and liked it, so we kept it, but I call her "Pooky" most of the time and yes, she responds (Pooky, how funny is that???)

Our lab is named "Bear", we did name him, because his face looks like a black bear. The girls call him "Bubba" or "Bubs" as if he is thier little brother. (ok, well, he IS) Sometimes we call him Bear Bear. He always responds. But the funniest part is when we are teasing him (well, teasing my husband really) we ask him in the same tone, "Bear, are you a girl?" he GROWLS at us.

ROTFL

So happy to see you respond DD. I though maybe I just was just looney. But to see I am not alone makes me feel so much better.

That is so funny he growls when you ask him if he is a girl. OMG. Laughing

I talk in that annoying "baby talk" voice to my kitties....

Paddington is frequently Pads, Padders, Noodle (who knows why???), Baby, Sweets, Fatty, Jack*** (when he bites me)

Birdy is often Birdle, Birds, Bird, Baby, Sweetums, Sweetie, Nerdle, Beebs

It's so odd isn't it? Smile

Birdy responds to Bird or Birdy bc I'm usually really LOUD when I calll her that (kind of like when you get in trouble with a parent and they call you by your first full name and your middle name). Paddington only responds to the sound of food cans or bags opening.

Smile

Of course I have to post to this thread... I have three rescue cats who I can't seem to get rid of. Smile

Gracie - gracie-girl, graaaa-ce
Fluffy - fluffmeister, fluffareli, fluffster
Number 3 - I actually call him different names all the time to see if he'll come, but he only responds to a clicking noise... really weird. I have thought about calling him Mr. Jones, Mr. Bond or Scardy Cat (since he's the most freaked out).

M&M is sometimes called Emmy - - depending on her "mood" she'll answer, some times she'll even answer her given name. Smile Goofy old kitty.
