| Hi Tjaart. Happy you found your way here to the pantry - I know we've chatted before in the Tea Room. Hope to do so again real soon, time difference notwithstanding! |

Hi everybody,
The first thing for me to do is to make a list of all your names and where you live so that I can somehow have an idea where y'all are on the vast map of the US of A. Please tell me whom I have left out:
Vicki
Pamela
Patti
Toni
Cheryle (?)
Angela (?)
Baker- something (?)
Monkeybusiness
Lagar
And that is how much I can remember - the mind is as agile as it used to be!
Help me out here please! |

Tjaart - you'll learn our names eventually, it took me a while to get them straight too.
My online name is cookiebakr but my real name is Sheryle. Here in the US most people who have my name spell it Cheryl, but when I was born, almost 50 years ago, I wan't exactly planned and my mother hadn't picked out a name for me. My sisters, who were 17 and 15 at the time, wanted to name me and the nurse at the hospital suggested the spelling.

Pamela suggested that I join this forum and I must say it looks like a lekker (South African for tasty, excellent, the best, etc - pronounced lekkah) place to visit.
Greetings from Africa

I can't tell you how nice it is to see you ladies from TOH being so supportive and nice to a newcomer. |

| Hello Tjaart, I live in Pennsylvania. I live in the country and love it, although I am learning to like visiting big cities. My youngest son broadens my horizons. Thanks to him, I have visited, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and of course Harrisburg, the capital. I have 3 grown sons (two who are twins) and a 2 year old granddaughter. |

Hi Vicki and PattiT and all others - thank you Vicki for the list - it helps me a great deal to visualize where you all live, and PattiT, I've always somehow had a special feeling for Pennsylvania, simply because of Pennsylvania Dutch and my ancestral connection with Germany and the Netherlands - and having seen the movie The Witness - with Harrison Ford - about the Amish, I think they must be somehow very special people - they do live in Pennsylvania, or am I making a mistake?
Have a great day everybody!
Oh, and I must make a misconception clear - I am a guy, 54 years old, a bachelor, but I hope that doesn't make you any the less friendly - I have always enjoyed the company of the gentler This is spam. Please don't click. much more than most of the males I have encountered in my life.
Please dont hold it against me! |

Tjaart,
Our welcome is sincere. In fact there are many men that are on the original Taste of Home Bulletin Board. Here are a couple of the websites:
Taste of Home (food magazine website)

Taste of Home Bulletin Board (TOHBB) - both men and women post

Amish
As far as the Amish: We have Amish communities in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, as well as Pennsylvania. Smaller communities may be in other states. One summer, several TOHBB people from a few states met in Shipshewana, Indiana for the huge flea market, shops, and meal at an Amish restaurant. The restaurant has shops and lodging, too.
