I've been so tempted to start one myself, the prob is, I would need a 3 ring binder, cuz I would want to keep everything organised by variety/type/etc. As an artist, I love the feel of real, bound "journals", so I'm torn wich route to take, I realy want a "Wine Journal", but not being able to move pages around and reorganise would drive me wonkers (its a short drive)!

I suppose it would have to do with what you want your journal to represent... Will it be strictly for informational purposes... ? Then Yeah, I would agree with the 3 ring for organizational purposes.
But if it is about the journey... Then you can use a regular journal, since they entries will be in the order of tastings....Harder to look things up, yes, but fun to see your progression through the world of wine...

It'll probably be more for the informational purpose, but it still needs to look good!!!  Don't try to argue here Shane, you know how "artists" get  LOL

Ok, I'm glad you brought this up too....I have heard of those wine saver lables, but I also remember Martha Stewart (can't help it, I like her) doing a segment where she had a particular method for soaking them off. I was going to look it up but got busy with cakes.
I'd like to have some alternatives so I can try out different methods. So whatever someone has done please share. Meantime, I'll do some research too and see what I can find. (I've been saving my bottles anyway for Jim and his wine making) Usually, I'm soaking off the labels to get them off, not save them LOL |

I LOVE Martha!!!
I've heard there can be problems soaking, depending on the type of paper they are, but then, I've heard the lable savers have probles with some kinds of paper too!
Anyone try both methods and have a review for us??

YAY! Martha got it... I found some other suggestions for this method....
It works really well on "Old World" labels where the label and the glue are separate... It also mentioned using Ivory soap cause it seemed to work the best.
But if they are "New World" Self-adhesive labels, I found suggestions, that you bake the bottle in the oven to soften the glue and just peel them off... Carefully of course, since the bottle will be hot.... But it had to do with the composition of the self-adhesive glue, being different and responding to dry heat instead of wet heat.
Now how do you tell what kind of label it is? I haven;t found out that part yet... keep ya all posted
