If you are serving wine, what kind? I'm on a roll here with the Thanksgiving day posts
I'm in charge of the reds, and just made it back from a quick trip over to the wine store around the corner to make my selections, a few I have never heard of:
2005 Cotes de Tablas, from Tablas Creek Vineyard, Paso Robles CA
This one is a mixture of Grenache, Mourverde, Syrah, and Counoise (2 of 4 I have never heard of). This one was in the bargain bin!
2006 Domiane Chandon Carneros, Pinot Meunier....NEVER heard of this varietal. From California also.
And thirdly, not lastly, a Cote de Rhone. Mixture of Grenache and Syrah. I like European wine, but don't drink it often enough. Seems like everything is out of CA lately. _________________ Kathy

I am sneaking a Fat Cat Red from Witch Creek 06 in when no one is looking....Just a simple red table wine...
As for Whites - Which were what was requested to accompany dinner
Prosecco(Italian Champagne), a Pummelo Sauvignon Blanc 06 I believe and a Contadina Pinot Grigio 05...
OK, MAYBE I will take my 06 "Venitian Moon" Pinot Grigio too... _________________ ~ Shane

I have some wines from when I went to Seattle I will be bringing over to my mom's. Either they will get drank during T-day or maybe before. And if they last then maybe after.
I have a Nebbiolo (sp?)....its a red. And a V...something or other....its a white wine. LOL.
Oh and I have a port as well as an ice wine. Port I am willing to open. Ice Wine may just be something we drink Wed nt after all the prep. LOL. |

| since we're home this year (as opposed to Jim's sisters) it will be only me drinking wine, so I picked up a bottle of Moscato. (although I might save it for Friday night and decorating the tree) Jim will probably have a few beers, but maybe not, he'll be too busy eating all day LOL |

as sad as this will sound... I often mispronounce the words in my head, so I can remember how to spell them.
Caber - Net Sow - vig - none anyone?
How bout a nice Champ - ogg - knee?
or a Pee-knot No-Ear
The bad part is when I think it and then end up saying it that way... _________________ ~ Shane

Shane yes thats the V wine.
Kathy I could not spell it nor really remember the exact name hence my intial post.
As one can tell I am not all that much into wines but these two I did like when trying in Seattle. I remember the Nebbiolo being not so great at first but the longer it sat the better it tasted.
I did forget that mom will also have Arbor Mist there And I need to get a hold of some Moscato di Asti for my dad. That is my goal tomorrow plus the vodka and mixers. |

Since I'm not real hip in white wine, I'll just get a bottle of Columbia Crest Grand Estates Merlot. My brother and his wife are the wine connoisseurs so hopefully they'll bring something good. Our friends are bringing some thing for mixed drinks (that also be made virgin for the kids)...so looks like we'll all be sloshed by the time we eat. Might be a good thing since if thats the case, dinner might be sloshed as well and no one will know the difference, except for the kids!!! LOL _________________ Danielle

a lot of cooking articles i've read over the years have said that red zinfendels (NOT WHITE) pair well with the traditional thanksgiving dishes because they are so hearty and so is the red zin. i've had it with many a thanksgiving meal and it didn't dissappoint. nothing fancy, Beringer Stone Cellar or Woodbridge _________________
