What kind of wine would be good with Chinese food if any? Having dinner with my friend but we are ordering in. I don't want to go empty handed. What should I bring???? If not wine...what kind of appetizer can i BUY (it's tonight) that wouldn't be weird to eat before chinese food? _________________ MICHELE

Do you know what kind of meat is being served??
Generally you can go by the old standby...red with red meat.
There are alot of crisp whites that pair well with Spicy food though...if you like spicy. _________________ Kathy

Ah Shoot... !!! I can't believe I missed this thread... Oh well... Just in case someone else needs the info.. Now this is my own personal taste... everyone is different... But I have found that my favorite pairings are the following..........
Spicy Chinese food - as in Sechwan or Hunan - Bring out the spices with Red Zinfandel for pork or a Petit Sirah for beef.... Spicy chicken & vegetable dishes - believe it or not... Gewürztraminer
Lighter Sweeter dishes... Yes, Riesling... If it's orange glazed, sauv. blanc works too...
Thick sauced vegetables in the savory category need a robust Viognier (it's a very robust white, and not very common)
Anything else... and I am with Danielle... go for the Sake myself.... It seems to work with everything...
And Bob is right... There are some really good beers that go VERY well. Saporo <sp> is particularly good with sushi... _________________ ~ Shane
