Morning everyone,

Was only on the computer for a short time yesterday morning, had a doc appointment at 9:15. Went to the same guy that did the skin cancer years ago, he took off a bump that was on the top of my head. Sure hurts right now, took two Tylenol so that helps quickly. He said we should know by next week if it's skin cancer or not. I think he put 4 or 5 stitches in, and I think that is what is so sore & tender.

Fan - poor coots!!

Martha - yeah, that was an awesome deal for the hooks!!

We are up to THREE critters now!! Shocked

We are getting thunder but it's mostly over the Lake. Was sun shining when I got up...but within a half hour it clouded up.

OH!! Do you know who Robert Irvine is?? Restaurant Impossible?? He is going to be about 45 mins from here helping people at some restaurant on Wed & Thur. We might go on Thur to the restaurant to see "who" we see. Smile

Have a great day!
Ann

Morning Ann,
I just saw Michael Irvine on Good Morning America not 2 minutes ago. He said he got married 3 weeks ago. I guess he is headed to Erie.

It's supposed to rain later and of course we are planning to golf......maybe we will switch and play tomorrow. Danny has been sitting at the airport for over 5 hours waiting for his flight to California. He called and said they are working on the plane. Shocked Please pray that he gets there safely.

Well, 33 years ago today I was giving birth.........ouch. Alyssa won't be home till Friday, but we will take her out to dinner and see what else she might want to do. We have my aunt's birthday party on Saturday, so that will have to be taken into consideration for the weekend. Her request for every occasion is that she wants a dog, this year she said a dog or an office chair. Guess what we got her..................chair. She can't get a dog until she has her own place and she is around it 24/7. Till then she will have to enjoy the chair. Wink

Patty, I loved the pictures from the beach, I would love to be that close to the ocean.

Fan, I've never made lasagna with anything other than a red sauce.

Martha, I think you are smart to keep your flowers close to you on the deck. We planted begonias under one of trees in the front of the house and I looked out the window one day and they were ALL gone. The rabbits ate every single one of them.

Hi everybody, have a smashing day Very Happy .

Pfew, I did my first lasagna ever. And it was a crowd pleaser.

My neighbour was doing a cheese fondue for his apprentices and since he's most of the time cooking for him self only, I just wondered if he'd be cooking enough for six. So I decided to make a big batch just in case. Four young lads and a girl sometimes can eat more than you would give them credit for. And since one of the boys was the one that was served a terrible lasagna at home and asked me to cook a proper one, it seemed a good opportunity. And they liked it cause after a fill of cheese fondue they managed to eat away three quarter of my batch.

Martha, the lasagna was almost charcoaled and the sauce had become solid Laughing he told me. He's going to send me the pics of the lasagna and an onion soup that can't be recognized as soup.
Gigi, I did mine without the white sauce too, just used a little extra tomato sauce and added a bit of veggies, basil and buffalo mozzarella. Congrats on Alyssa's B-day Very Happy . Hope everything goes okay for Danny.
Ann-Marie, I saw the female coot standing on her empty useless nest this morning. She was probably there saying goodbye for the last time. This afternoon nobody was around the nest. I heard about Robert Irvine, but don't know much about him. Must be exciting to get to see him in action.
Hope you will be healed up nicely by then

Hey Y'all:

Well they were calling for rain to start about 4pm today - on the noon news as the statement was being made I heard loud thunder & the sky opened up. Ooops Smile Weatherman made a boo boo.

I have one more door to frame up & install on my kitchen cabinet & I'll be done another project. Was thinking about setting that space up for the kitchen trash can. Went into the shed looking for my good hand saw...when I found it I just shook my head. Have no idea what dh did to it but it is totally ruined. The teeth look like he tried to cut a metal pipe & it is pitted & covered in rust. Payed a lot of money for that saw - needed it for work so I special ordered it from a tool supplier. Also can't find my power jig saw...so the heck with it I'll hang the door & be done with it. Rolling Eyes

Y'all take care...

Hi Everybody!

It rained all night (and of course, I left the cushions out! Evil or Very Mad) Then this morning the sun came out and it was very muggy. Now it's raining again. (Oh well, it'll make the flowers grow! ) I love it when the weather report says "Possibility of scattered showers" and it rains all day.

I rented "Downton Abbey-Season 1" from the Redbox. If anyone missed it on TV... be sure to rent it. It was so good! It's like the old series called "Upstairs/Downstairs" that was on PBS years ago. All about servants that work in a big castle in England. So that's how I spent the rainy day.... watching TV! I feel so lazy and wicked! Retirement is awesome!

Fan - Glad your lasagna was a success. All that ooey-gooey cheese... your photos made my mouth water! I'll bet those were some happy apprentices!!

Ann - Good thing you had your "bump" removed. That's an unusual place to get one. I'm sure it will turn out to be nothing.

Karen - Happy B-day to Alyssa! Thirty-three years.... didn't it just fly? Hope Danny made it out of the airport OK. He travels alot for his job, doesn't he? That must be rough.

Nubbins - What are you doing? Replacing the doors on your cupboards? Don't you hate it when you go to get some tool and it's all rusty & ruined? My problem is that everytime I reach for something... I discover my daughter borrowed it! When ever I see tools at a garage sale, I check them out. I've gotten alot of them that way. This week my daughter has been working on remodeling the bathroom at her new place. She put in a wood floor, wainscoating all the way around, new toilet and cabinet with sink, wall paper above the wainscoating and a replacement ceiling exhaust fan. She is so good at stuff like that... I'm really proud of her. Now that she's done... maybe I will get my tools back!

Good morning girls. It seems like it is going to be an awesome day today, I have all the windows open wide, hooray. I have been missing this last time because of hubby being so ill. I waited on him hand and foot all day Sunday, tried to convince him to go to urgent care, but of course Mr. Stubborn wouldn't go. Naturally when they had closed for the day, he took a turn for the worse. I made him spend the night where I could see and hear him. I made an appt. for him on Monday for 6 p.m., they called and said with the symptoms he was having he needed to come in right away. I told him that he was at work and they were short handed and he couldn't leave, and they said please call him and tell him he needed to come as soon as possible. Next I get a call from hubby and as we are talking he says "Uh oh, there is an accident and it is a fellow worker, oh no, it looks bad I have to go." When he calls back he says, "The fellow worker had a bad gash on his arm, was complaining of chest pains" The person who was helping the co-worker asked hubby if he could hold pressure on his wound and of course hubby said he would. He tried to keep the guy calm in case the pain was from his heart, and he said he saw blood on the air bag in several places. The other vehicle contained a woman and there were people over there. Hubby said it took about 10 minutes for an ambulance and fire crews to get there. He stayed with his co-worker until they took him away on the stretcher, then he said he noticed the stretcher for the other car came back empty. He wondered why. Come to find out the woman in the other car had died. What a day for hubby. When he got to the Dr.s they said he needed a CAT scan which they scheduled for first thing in the morning. When the CAT scan was done they got the Dr. on the phone and he told him he had Diverticulosus (sp) and called in two antibiotics. I hope it takes care of it. When his brother got it, he had to have part of his intestine removed. I had gone along with hubby for the CAT scan, he had planned on running all kinds of errands before coming home, he said he really just needed to get home. I had told him before he left about the after effects and that he would probably need to get home. He spent yesterday resting and of course went to work today. They said the antibiotics should make him feel better in 2 or 3 days. To get to a hospital if the pain got worse again. I know I am writing a book, sorry, but one other thing. I told him he would have to follow a diet so this would not return, he said people could make suggestions but that he is a grown man and will eat what he wants. I wanted to strangle him. Oh, the Dr.s said that the amount of strawberries we have been eating probably brought this on!!

**Ann, that is exciting about Robert Irvine, he came to a restaurant near us not too long ago. With those shows I always say, I hope they are not coming to a restaurant that I have eaten in. Who knows, you may get an autograph from him or his designer.
I think where you got the bump removed is a spot sometimes that is a problem with people who have a part in their hair, that gets a lot of sunlight and you would never think to put sunscreen on. Do you part your hair. I will say prayers that your test comes back okay. 4 or 5 stitches surely seem like that would hurt, ouch.

**Karen, I saw that Robert got married to Gail Kim I think, a professional wrestler! Two very fit people. I hope rain doesn't dampen your golfing plans. I will definitely say a prayer for Danny. I sometimes think us spouses worry more about things like that than they do. Happy Birthday to Alyssa, they all grow up so fast don't they. I used to always request a St. Bernard for my birthday, thank heavens I never got one. They are beautiful but I can't even imagine how much they eat! An office chair is a very nice gift.
I am afraid we have spoiled all our friends and family with always wanting to stay oceanfront. It costs more, but it is sooooo worth it.
My SIL has made lasagna with a white sauce and seafood as the "meat" in the dish. She also made one with a white sauce, chicken and broccoli. Did I mention that she hates red sauce?? Ha, ha.
I guess with the beauty of not living in the city comes the pain of wildlife eating your garden goodies. No sooner did our squash get big beautiful leaves than something ate the whole leaves!! I said it would have to be something big, to finish off whole huge leaves like that. I read somewhere to mix epsom salts with a gallon of water and pour it on things you don't want animals to eat. I am going to find out today if that will hurt crops that you plan on eating. Rabbits are so cute, unless they are eating YOUR things!!

**Fan, oh my, that lasagna has me drooling. Hubby and SIL don't really care for it, so I don't make it often and it has been a while. What a great job you did for you first try. Cheese fondue is something I haven't had in ages. By the way, your lasagna did not look overcooked to me and one of the points of lasagna is to let it set up, so that you can cut it and the goodies don't all come rushing out, so that looks perfect also. Okay, with all that delicious food, do not tell me that you also had some great cocktails because it might bring me to tears that I could not be there.

**Nubbins, I really really wish we could see pictures of what all you are doing. If you are not sure how to post, maybe your grandson could help you. I keep buying me little tool sets, and hubby grabs them to use instead of all his huge sets of tools and inevitably ruins all my screw drivers, I have started buying them from Sears and Lowe's with the guarantees that they will replace them if they get ruined. I don't often use tools, but when I do I don't want a Phillip's head with the end all twisted. Hubby belongs to the club of "Just one more turn" AFTER it is perfectly tight!!!

**Martha, it rained all day and night here. I moved my hanging baskets out from under the roof so they could get watered. Your house is going to be beautiful with all the flowers that you are planting. I am hoping to get another flower basket for the front porch since one died while we were away on vacation. You are really enjoying your vacation, just like you should. Hubby is only semi-retired but on the days he doesn't work, he wants to be out doing things from early morning until sunset. I am not sure I will survive when he really retires. Hopefully he will take it a little more easy then. Hubby does enjoy that he doesn't ever HAVE to go to work. He also loves not dreading hearing the phone ring telling him they need him for an overnight shift after we have had a big day. So I guess, in a way he is enjoying his retirement also.
I never saw any of those shows you spoke of. I had to check to see what they were because my son got me watching one about these two drunk ladies on PBS, they used to keep me in stitches. (laughing hard, in case they don't use that expression where Fan lives.)

Well, I am off to print out a "diet" for hubby, I will just avoid cooking things he shouldn't have. Perhaps he will not even notice, I hope. Wink

Hey Y'all:

Martha don't count on getting your tools back. Your daughter is REALLY handy, be proud of her.

Patti I have the same problem & have ended up in the hospital 1 time for massive antibiotic treatments. You can lose part of your bowel if this isn't caught in time. Initially he needs to avoid ALL foods with seeds or nuts. These little buggers get caught in the diverticuli (little sacs that line the bowel) of the bowel & cause an infection. After a few months (giving his bowel time to recover properly) he can have those things again but not every day & not in massive quantities. Even rolls with seeds on them should be avoided at first (McDonald's hambergers for example) If he has no choice he can pick off the seeds. The diet also says NO CORN-again avoid at first & eat corn same as seeds-maybe 1 time a week, this gives your bowels time to clear out the corn "seed" therefore there is less chance of infection.

Take care Y'all...
