Morning everyone,
Went to the doctor yesterday about the headaches, he had them take five x-rays and then said it sounds like I have several bad teeth - told me to make an appointment with my dentist and eye doctor. Got an appt with the dentist on Monday.
Was outside quite a bit yesterday, until later in the afternoon, the wind picked up and I got chilly. Jim mowed our yard and the neighbors yard, looks nice. Hopefully we can keep it mowed now, and leaves too. They say to chop up the leaves, it's "food" for the grass over the winter. Some times we have a carpet of leaves, can't mow then so have to rake. That's one Fall activity I don't mind doing, gets me out and the raking keeps me warm!
Had been looking through one of my recipe binders...found the recipes that everyone sent with their Christmas cards, what an awesome treasure trove!! Was looking at some of the names and wonder where they are now?? Kayla, fleur, ddpie, Joy, motherof2boys.........???
Guess I'll get around here, see what I can get into.
Have an awesome weekend!

Hi Ann-Marie and everybody else, have a wonderful day
I'm busy playing with some rib of beef. I don't do that too often, since it's rather time consuming. I have nothing big or important going on this weekend, so I started quite leisurely with coffee and birthday cake celebrating the birthday of my neighbour's dog. . We made up a small terrace on the pavement and had some people passing by joining us. Tonight I get to walk the birthday dog.
The weather is really like you can expect for Autumn. Bright, sunny and cold with beautiful contrasting skies.
And the beginning of fall colours on the trees.
No more shorts and tees in the street. Might as well store them and start looking for my trousers and sweaters.
Ann-Marie, sorry to hear about your teeth and eyes. But sometimes they are indeed causing severe headaches.
Qui, thanks for offering some of your muffins, they sound really delicious.
Gotta check on my rib of beef and start peeling the potatoes. TTYL _________________ Fanmajie

Good morning Ann
Sorry to hear about your teeth - good that you were able to get a fast appointment.
Sounds like you need a mulcher for your mower - or a goat maybe
I finished putting all those recipes in a new binder before I went to Nashville in August - It's a shame to have lost so many. Hope they will be back.
I'm off to the Legion for the better part of the day - muffins packaged and ready to be auctioned off.
I want to fix some ham and cheese hot pockets when I get home - I got the stuff to make them, but just ran out of 'hurry up' so they didn't get done.
Hopefully, Caroline will have left an update from the doctor.
Have a good weekend everybody -- ttyl _________________ ... Pat ...

And I missed Fan while I was posting - good morning...
The muffins are easy - if you make cornbread - just add in dried cranberries and a few tablespoons of orange marmalade.
For the bread pudding ones, I use cinnamon buns instead of bread - add raisins or nuts - or both and bake in muffin tins instead of a pan _________________ ... Pat ...

Good morning ladies, sorry I haven't been on lately. I have had the flu and been stuck in the house for the last week. I went to the dr yesterday [finally able to stay off of the potty long enough to leave] He took a chest xray and said that I have bronchitis and starting to get pneumonia. I have pain under my ribs when I cough.
Jim has been a sweetie, taking care of me. He has cleaned the kitchen and brought me food, made sure I had plenty to drink. I think I'll keep him!!! LOL
It was a surprise seeing Qui, Eric and Axel posting again. It would be nice if everyone came back on here again like the old days.
Qui- How have you been? Sorry I didn't get to meet with you in august in Nashville. It would have been good to see you again.
Ann- I have all of my recipes from then in my cookbook. I should put them all together in one spot. They are scattered through it. Hope you get to feeling better.
Most of the ones you mentioned are on FB.I have talked ty DD, Joy,Jennifer[motherof2boys],debbie,michelle,sheryle,and a few others I think.
Fan-your pictures are always so pretty and interesting.
I hope everyone is doing okay, I am feeling dizzy again, so I need to get off of here. TTYL _________________ Once in a while I dream that a gigantic squirrel is carrying me away. Does that make me a NUT? |

Hi Qui and Grammadot
Qui, corn bread is unheard of in the Netherlands and as I happen to live in crawling distance of the two best bakeries in town , baking is not my stronghold.
Grammadot, Sorry you are not feeling too well. Please take good care of yourself.
I've just finished a quite traditional Dutch dinner. So please don't tell my family, better leave them to believe I can't cook conventional food

thanks fan, I absolutely love that bakery. I wish mine had looked like that, but if I had that much bread out like that I would have had to throw most of it away, we didn't have enough people in the whole town to make that much!!!!
and your dinner looks delicious. I guess I will go and have some potato soup in a bit. _________________ Once in a while I dream that a gigantic squirrel is carrying me away. Does that make me a NUT? |

Hey Patti - Sorry I missed you in August but maybe over Thanksgiving - I am going up probably Sun-Mon before and leaving N'vl probably Sat/Sun after - then to Dunlap - just N. of Chatt. for a few days.
Do you still get to N'vl now and again? Maybe we can meet up this time.
Fan - somehow, in the back of my mind, I knew Corn muffins weren't on your regular menu, but I am flat out jealous of that bakery. Then you post your delicious looking meals -- Would you consider adopting me?
The bake auction went well - I took a nap when I got home _________________ ... Pat ...

Hi Everybody!
It was a nice sunny day, but quite chilly. It's only 49°F now !!!
I have been baking cookies today. That's one way to warm the house up! I made Sugar Cookies, Molasses Cookies and Chocolate Cookies. I tried something new on the chocolate ones.... I got a set of "cookie stencils" at the Dollar Store. OMG, they look so cool! You just hold the plastic stencil over the cookie and sprinkle some powdered sugar. The kit I bought has six different designs... I made fleur-de-lis designs on mine. It was so easy!! I'm definitely going to use them again - maybe for Christmas time.
Ann - I never rake leaves any more since my mower mulches. I just keep going back and forth over them until they're gone. It's so much easier than raking and bagging them all up. Of course, if you ENJOY raking....then it a great way to get out there in the fresh air, isn't it?
Fan - Your dinner looks delicious. And a puppy birthday party... what fun! I've been telling myself I'd better start getting out the fall/winter clothes. I already dug out a flannel shirt because it was so chilly. I will be glad to pack up the summer clothes and put them away.
Hi to everybody else.
Have a great day and enjoy the nice fall weather! _________________ -----Martha |

Hi everybody, have a smashing Sunday
The weather is wonderful, the sun is brilliant and the temps are getting close to comfy. Might go out for a walk after coffee and see what's going on in my area of the world.
Qui, I've pondered over your question while I was having breakfast
Be assured, you are adopted as of this Sunday morning
Grammadot, everybody loves a bakery like that. But having bakeries like that around, it doesn't encourage people to bake their own breads, cookies and cakes.
Martha, the puppy in question turned 9 yesterday and has surpassed the expected average lifespan of his breed. So the owner is celebrating every day his beloved dog is in good health and spirits. We are happy to help out I'm not that happy to put away summer clothing, I'm not ready for winter yet. Need another few weeks of comfy temps.
Gotta go out and enjoy today's nice fall weather. _________________ Fanmajie
