Good day everybody, have a nice day without the storms I have Smile

I have a weather depression above me with stormy winds and huge rain showers. It started reasonably dry this morning, meaning it stayed dry long enough for me to walk to the office. Then the rains started with a 10 to 15 minute breaks in between. Luckily I could leave 5 minutes early and could take the full advantage of a break and get home again still dry Laughing . To comfort my self I uploaded yesterdays picture of the rainbows in the early morning sky, just hoping it'll be back tomorrow.

Chris, the köfte I buy is the Izmir köfte. Well, kind of. The butcher's wife told me that every region in Turkey has their own flavour palette as far as spices and herbs are concerned and that although it usually is simmered in a red sauce, baked köfte served with other sauces is quite common too. Loved your story about the chicory coffee. It was very common in WOII in Europe to drink it due to a severe shortage of real coffee. Even in the years after the war people still drank it since real coffee was terribly expensive. You were lucky to have had a Dunkin Donuts at your office and close to your home. At least I know I should bring my own Nescaffee whenever I intend to go there Laughing
Ann-Marie, how's the critter count today?
How's everybody else doing?

Hi Everybody!

This weather is sooo weird! Today it is 90°F and yesterday it was in the 60's!!
It thundered and lightninged (is that a word?) during the night... really poured. Then around 10 AM the storm passed and the sun came out and things started heating up! Now it so muggy and humid that I had to put the air conditioning on and close the windows! Oh well, it's better than SNOW!!!

I've been feeling pretty good lately. I'm eating regular food and everything seems to be working OK. I have to go back to see the surgeon next week and he should give me the final stamp of approval.

Fan - Beautiful picture of the double rainbows! Your town always looks so gorgeous in your photos!

I have decided to volunteer at the local Elk's Club where Jim is a member. They have dinners every week and parties to raise money for charity. They asked me to join because they don't have anyone to bake desserts for the dinners, etc. Is that right up my alley or what?? I love baking desserts, but everybody I know is on a diet or can't eat sweets for some reason or another. And if I make a pie or something... I have to practically eat it all myself! This will be perfect!

Hi to everybody else! What's new with you?

Martha, I should say that's right up to your alley Wink . I can picture you already freaking out and seeing people eating your pies, desserts and other sweets. Good for your waistline too if others eat away the goodies before you have to do it. Laughing . Glad to hear you are feeling good, now we only need a surgeon to agree with us on that.
