Greetings, Friends!

The weekend has arrived! And, today is the BIG game between Michigan and Michigan State. We don't wear clothes in favor of either team, but clothing, hats, flags, food, etc... but they are worn by many people the entire week and tomorrow. Those who do wear blue/maize (yellow) or green/white.

Tonight, I plan on making Danielle's chicken. Smile

Good morning! I'm new here and thought I'd check in with you all this weekend.

Hubby and I are retired so this gives me plenty of time to indulge in my passion - cooking! We live in northeast Texas with our two spoiled kitties. Today, it's just beautiful - lots of sunshine and just 55. We'll be headed to the store as soon as we finish our coffee.

You all have a wonderful weekend!
Hugs, Marsha (aka Kylesgranny)

Hi everybody, have a smashing weekend Very Happy

Vicki, who's side are you on? Don't tell me you impartial Wink
Ann-Marie, counting down critters and working days. Smile How long do you have? I'm counting down too, but still have five weeks to go. Laughing
Kylesgranny, welcome here Very Happy I don't have a spoilt cat, but a queen in her palace with me as her lady in waiting Wink

I have three major passions and they sometimes bite each other Rolling Eyes ; photography, cooking and historical research. But most of the time they get along pretty well.
Today I had a really fun funeral or actually a reenactment of a funeral from 1846. Our city's cemetery was commemorating it's 200th anniversary and decided to celebrate it with an old fashioned funeral cortege through the city. The person "reburied" was a city hero and every body, some of his descendants included, was dressed up and acting according to what was appropriate in 1846.

Even our mayor played his part, he's the guy with the silver buttons on his coat.

Fan - that's pretty cool that they did that. Amazing that we are always looking back at our history, isn't it??!

Good Evening, Friends!

Marsha - Welcome! Sounds like you have had lovely weather today. Do you like cooking more than baking?

Ann - Yes, lots of rivalry. I had one great-uncle and aunt who had 50 yard seats at Michigan State. No tailgating for us. We were cozy at home and enjoyed Danielle's Teriyaki Chicken.

Fan - Wow! What an interesting day!! Do you have historical reenactments for different many different events?

You were wondering which side I was on, but "my lips are sealed." We have family and friends on both sides: my Dad and sons are for Michigan, my daughter-in-law attends Michigan State Med School and my nephew attends Michigan State graduate school. Further generations are just as split. Smile

~~Vicki

Morning,

Didn't work too hard here at the house - cleaned the bathrooms, did laundry, run the sweeper and watched some Westerns yesterday. Figured I am on vacation in a few days so I can really get the house cleaned up and my oven cleaned too in those days that I am off.

Figures, the 3 days that I work are suppose to be somewhat nice, the days that I am off it's to rain. Rolling Eyes Confused Need to go to several area stores and see if I can find a good winter coat. Bought one at Walmart years ago and the down is coming out every time I wash it. Sad I love this coat so hoping to find one similar to it. Had L.L. Bean send me one of their winter coat books, seen a couple in there that I really like. If I can't find anything around here will be ordering from them.

Better get around here and get my teeth brushed, leave shortly.

Take care,
Ann

Hi Ann-marie and everybody else, have a great Sunday Very Happy

Look like I have it all today; storm, rain, sunny spells and hailstones. Hailstones almost as big as small marbles and within 3 minutes my street was covered.

So I stayed indoors and played in the kitchen, made a chicken stock using the water I cooked cauliflower in yesterday. Yesterday I tried my tomato tapenade on the cauliflower, topped it with mozzarella and parmesan and baked it in the oven. Tastes even better than last week's version with the broccoli.

Then I made a bit of herb butter with parsley, chives and garlic for tonights toast to go with the chicken soup. And for lunch I made a japanese style flavoured mushroom and pork curry with parsley rice.

Sorry Chris Wink . Just couldn't ignore the discount on the cauliflower and the abundance of mushrooms this time of the year Wink
Ann-Marie, it's always difficult to find a comfortable winter coat. I need one too, but I am at a total loss where to find one. I'll probably end up in the men's department and go for a outdoor jack. Smile Have fun at work today.
Vicki, we don't do these reenactments very often, but with events like a 200th or 50th anniversary it becomes fun to do. More regular reenactments are those of historical battles, they usually go every other year of every five years. BTW do I have to congratulate you on the victory of Michigan State Wink
