Goodmorning everybody, have a fantastic day Very Happy

I'm on my way home after a great stay at aunt B's. My stomach comfortably filled with pumpkin soup and my bag with Christmas gifts and goodies. Like coffee from the deli and other goodies. Now I'm really looking forward to see Myo and give her her Christmas toy Wink
Ann-Marie, do you have to work today?
Qui, what's for dinner tonight?
Have fun everybody and enjoy each other's company. I'll check in later today from my desktop.

Good Morning, Friends!

We had a wonderful Christmas Day with family in Holland. Christmas dinner was joyous... plus each grandchild wanted to sit next to a relative, and we could give them a lot of attention. The only gift that needs exchanging is a college sweatshirt for my husband, but the college store does not open until January 2, 2014.

The trip was very slow, 40 mph mostly due to snow and black ice. My family arrived safely, but accidents were seen both ways, one vehicle overturned.

This morning I am baking the gifts that I did not give yesterday. Shhh! Will be a pleasant surprise. Smile

Fan - Hoping you have a safe trip home. The pumpkin soup sounds delicious. Let us know what Myo does with her gift.

~~Vicki

Hi everybody Very Happy

Vicki, Myō is not doing much with toys at the moment. For now it's all about her food bowl and my lap. Laughing She probably thought I'd left her forever.
Glad you all made it safe to and from Holland. Will today's baking contribute to the necessity of exchanging the sweatshirt of your hubby? Wink

Fan - Sounds like Myo needs some tender loving care before she is willing to play.

As I am gradually baking more, Karl is a good taste tester. This loaf of lemon bread is NOT a recipe I will make for my children. It does not taste too lemony. But, has a tart after taste due to the lemon peel. Perhaps, I will look back to my own recipes.

Boxing day greetings to all ...
The chicken dinner was ok...but M. bought a Hen - then dry roasted it with a butter and garlic powder rub. The hen was tough and dry, the garlic powder over-browned...and we both got a good laugh out of it. Then I threw it back in the pot and stewed it. We'll have pot pie on Sunday.

Try candying the peel first -

Fan - Subway (chain sandwich shop) has 6" meatball sandwich for $2.00 for the month of December...that's dinner today.

And that's about all for now...

Qui, my dinner almost would have been similar as I passed the "food wall" in the railway station Laughing .

Nevertheless I managed to overcome the temptation and came home without. Made some leek soup and had a cheese summit.

Pat (Qui) - Thank you for the candied lemon peel suggestion. Oooh, your pot pie suggestions sounds delicious!

Fan - We almost made soup, but are having leftovers instead. Found apple/gouda brats in the freezer (grilling) with the lower half of butternut squash (baking). Can't imagine my husband grilling while we're getting even more snow! Shocked
