Morning,

Looks like a nice calm day is in store for us today, weather-wise anyway. The temps for the next couple of days are to be really warm - high 60's - low 70's. Smile

Didn't do much yesterday, my body didn't feel like it, was so exhausted. I tried to wipe some walls down in the hallway, made it to the front door and quit. End up covering up with Willow and sleeping for a good 20 mins or so. Just had NO energy. Confused Evil or Very Mad Not liking what the Prednisone does, glad yesterday was my last pill.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Ann

GOOD MORNING ANN & OTHER FRIENDS....

OK, I went and did the "Chapter" thing, so get yourself a cup of coffee, maybe even something to eat, because this might take awhile! LOL!

**ANN, Girl, you are working way too many hours. No wonder you have a hard time keeping up at the house , especially with "Spring Cleaning"! Then you haven't been feeling well either. How's the Kitties today? Better? Tell Jim I said Hello, OK?

I come and go like the wind, don't I? Have been spending most of my days with my legs elevated. For a some reason I can't keep the swelling down and water just sips out like a faucet. I started to post the other day, but got company...my one Sister from Virginia and another Sister from here in town, surprised us with a nice visit! The one Sister form VA just got back from a Cruise and it was interesting hearing all about her Vacation and of course she came back very tanned. My Sister from here in town and I said we were going to be "Stow A Ways" next time! Jim and I are STILL doing good on our quest for Eating Healthy". I must say it's getting easier and we know what is good for us and what is not and just don't buy the Fatting things anymore. I am looking at recipes in a different light, figuring out ways to take out the bad high calorie ingredients and replace them with healthy low calorie ones. Plus the Treadmill is down, but with my legs so swollen I don't do it long, although they say exercise is good to keep the fluids moving...who knows! Oh Yea, I can't remember if I have posted since I went to my "Family Doctor" or not, but I had a follow up appt with him this past Monday. Now remember He is one of the doctors that wanted a Permanent Trac implanted in me and believed I only had 6 months to live...what a Goober! You should have seen the Huge Smile in his face when he walked in the exam room and seen me. He was in shock and pleasantly surprised that I have re-bounded so well and so quickly and complimented Jim and I both! He also realized that if it weren't for Jim's insistence on Him (the doc) making arrangements for me to go to Cleveland Clinic, I definitely would NOT be here. All in all Jim and I are doing well, Jim knows that since I'm doing so much better and he can leave me alone without worrying I'm Black out and go unconscious while he's gone, it's time for him to start seriously looking for a job. He's got Resumes out everywhere, but so many things against him, bad area of the country for jobs, his age and his own health. I told him not to worry about finding a job paying what he was getting and working all those terrible OT hours, but something alot less Stressful! He would love to start his own business, he just has soooo many ideas of what he would like to do and I told him he needs to specialize in a few things and Not 4 or 5 different things that have nothing to do with each other. Plus now, we have went through almost all our savings paying Taxes and living expenses. Enough about us!

Off to our Daughter and Grandchildren! Between all of them they keep my mind moving! Tiffany and Mat just got Divorced, it was Final about 2 weeks ago. Her and the kids moved out last May and lived with us for a month or so and now she has her own place...which I guess is the way it's supposed to be. I just worry about her and the kids. Mat has the kids from Friday nite to Sunday nite and in those day Tiffany turns into a 20 yr. old. Most all her friends are from the Cosmetology and are in their 20's, well except for one woman and she's 42...too old for Tiffany to run with! Anyway I guess this is a Mother talking because she goes out all week-end long to the bars with these girls, goes on road trips with them...I would rather her be like she was before, a stay at home Mom and acting her age and being a Mom first. Jim and I have the Grandchildren every Wednesday evening and I love it, would like for it to be more days...in fact can't wait til schools out, so they'll be here more. I love those kids so much and hate that they had to go through a break up of their parents. Cody my oldest GS told me a month or so ago that he was worried that when his Mom started to date a boyfriend that she would forget about them! Now isn't that sad? I had to re-assure him that she wouldn't and that his Meme and Papaw would always love him! It's a sad situation for sure and breaks my heart every time I think about it.OK, enough of that too!

So is everyone ready for a Beautiful week-end? I hear that we (in our area that is) are in for 80* temps and sunny skies! The neighborhood is already starting to mow, spring flowers are coming up, my Magnolia tree is in bloom and Cody id ready to clean up the yard, mow and plant flowers. I told him it was still to early to plant flowers. I'm ready to get the porch and patio cleaned off or should I say ready for it to be cleaned off...I won't be able to help! Now that I'm feeling better,I'd like to think of some in-expensive day trips to do this year.Maybe some picnics with the kids. Every time I think of a Picnic, I think of Kujo our dog that died...he loved to go to the park and have a picnic. Jim and I would love to get another dog, but not right now, not until he gets a job so we can afford to take care of it and then do we get a "RESCUE PET" one that NEEDS a Loving home OR do we opt for a PUPPY and go through the house-breaking thing again and the chewing up things again and then what kind? Anyway back to the day trips...Picnics is all the farther I have gotten! Many a Movie or two with the Grandchildren!

OK here is a site I wanted to let you girls know about before I got off here. It is of a Nest of Eagle Chicks;3 of them and their Parents. The Mom and Dad Both take care of them and I Bookmarked my so the kids and I could check on them once in awhile. Sometimes there's Not alot going on, but other times she's feeding them, cleaning out the nest sometimes both the parents are there. Anyway I thought it was interesting and if there are little kids around they get interested too. So here's the site addy:

http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/hays-bald-eagle-do not click on this link/

Well I guess I had better close for now, the ole leg is thumping and it's going on 9, time to get Jim up and get some Breakfast ...gotta get that Metabolism going! I pray that you ALL are feeling well and have a Beautiful day! HUGS! Debbie

Hi Ann-Marie, Debbie and everybody else, have a smashing weekend Very Happy

It's been chilly and windy today. Perfect for my laundry, but the dandelions didn't like it that much, I suppose.

Nevertheless it was warm enough to hang around outside and have coffee on the pavement. After my cleaning chores I prepared a bulgur salad to go along with my köfte for dinner. The first whole meal salad of the season, yum. All kinds of herbs, peppers, green onions and other things fresh and affordable again due to the warm weather.

Ann-Marie, I really hope you will get over the Prednisone soon. Enjoy the nice temps, ours are on the chilly side these days. But I don't mind as long as the sun keeps on shining. My shorts are in the laundromat anyway Laughing
Debbie, I did follow your advice, grabbed a cup of coffee and took my time to read your "chapter" Wink . Glad to have you posting like this again.
My compliments for you and Jim on the "Eating healthy" department. Keep up the good work. And the short periods exercise in between keeping your foot elevated is a good thing. Keep your foot elevated as much as possible, but take a short exercise break every two hours or so. That was what I was told after hip surgery. Wish Jim good luck from me in his job hunt. Good thing you still have the grandkids around, despite of everything happening to them and their parents.
Has anyone heard of PattiT lately, she hasn't been around here this week.
Gotta quit for now, need to hang out last batch of the laundry.

Speak of the devil, and here she is Fan. Sorry about not checking in for so long. No really good reason. Heard from my one sister I haven't talked to in over 25 years. She is scheduled to have a back surgery like one of mine and wanted some information. I just don't want to get sucked into all the drama again.
I have been having to keep my feet elevated also. My ankles are swollen for at least a year now and now the left one just throbs with pain and even keeps me up most of the night. I have an appt. with my family Dr. on Thursday and will see what he thinks about it. He wanted me to come in and discuss my echocardiogram nothing too serious but he does say there has been damage to two areas. Tuesday I have an appt with the gastro Dr. Getting old is definitely no fun, and definitely expensive.
**Martha, did you hear anything back from your tests yet? What have you been baking lately?
**Debbie, nice to see you stopping by. I kind of had a feeling that Tiffany's partying weekends might be irritating for you. Things seem to be going so well with her schooling, that has to be a relief. Those grand kids are just so great. They are always so thoughtful. I hope you find something that helps with your legs, it sounds just awful.
**Ann, that collar looks so much more comfortable than the other kind. I didn't even know there was such a thing. Glad Willow is not as afraid as she was. I hope the cortisone etc. is an answer to your sinus problems.
**Fan, such pretty flowers and delicious looking food! We are at about 72 degrees and I was able to open the windows for the first time this season, hooray.

Hubby planted some onions yesterday. The purple kind. We may be going to pick up some mulch we ordered and some landscaping timbers. We are just itching to get the beds all looking nice. I sure miss being able to help! Hubby says just me keeping him company will he is working outside is enough help. He is very sweet.
We are having bratwurst on the grill and some homemade potato salad for dinner. Perfect grilling weather we are having.

Hi Everybody!
The weather is beautiful today!!! It was about 70 degrees and blue skies. Spring has finally arrived! I even have some daffodils coming up... no blossoms yet, but they're coming up at least. I'm dying to get out and rake and clean things up a bit. But no, I'm in the middle of an "indoor" project. I'm working on the kitty room. I have everything I need like paint, brushes, rollers, etc. But it has a "popcorn" ceiling that I want to remove first. (In case any of you don't know, popcorn ceiling is when plaster was sprayed on the ceiling in a pattern that looks like popcorn. It was all the style in the '80's I guess... but I hate it!) I've been reading up on the internet and they say it can be moistened and scraped off........... so that's what I'm doing today. I'm actually taking a dinner break now, but I'm about half done. It's really messy and a lot of work, but it's working!!! Yay! I'm hoping to finish it tonight and start painting tomorrow.

I have been feeling pretty good, so I'm finally able to get some things done around here. Thank God! I still didn't hear the results of my tests, but I decided that if it showed anything, they would have called me. And if I make an appointment to go in and see the doctor again - it will cost me $45. So the heck with it! Why should I pay more money just to hear the doctor say they didn't find anything! He gave me a script for Nexium (it probably won't let me say that on here) that seems to be helping since I haven't had a flare up in awhile. So I'll just play it by ear.

Debbie - That eagle thing was cool. The babies are soooo little! I hope Jim finds something soon, but I know it will be hard for him to be gone to work and worry about you while he's gone.

Ann - Poor Leo! Good idea, getting that soft cone for him. It looks much more comfortable. I opened the sliding glass doors for the kitties today for the first time this year. They were so excited. They sit there and watch the birds and squirrels for hours.

Fan - Yay! Pretty flower photos yesterday. You know how to make my day.
Your bulgur salad looks yummy. What is kofte again? It looks like hamburgers or sausage patties. You always plate your meals so attractively.... it looks like you were having company.

Pattit - You are sure right about getting old is not fun (or cheap!). I still haven't gotten back into baking for the Elks Club. I took a break when I wasn't feeling good and now I'm not sure I want to do it again. On one hand, it was fun to have a reason to bake something every week, but on the other hand it may have been causing more stress than I realized. Living alone like I do, I live totally spontaneously every day. And if I don't feel like doing something - I don't. And nobody is depending on me or expecting me to be somewhere. It's kinda nice after all those years of punching a clock. In the meantime, my daughter asked me to make a cookie tray for a guy at work who did some work on her car. He wouldn't take any money, but he said he would like some of her mother's cookies. So as soon as I finish the kitty room, I won't mind doing that. Smile

Well, I'd better get back to my ceiling scrapping before I get too comfortable.

Hi to everybody else! Enjoy the weekend!

Good morning everybody, wakey wakey and join me for breakfast Laughing

Croissants and oeufs en cocotte, so totally French Wink. Not to mention the coffee which I couldn't squeeze in the pic.
PattiT, glad you checked in. I hope the Dr's news will not be too bad and he'll be able to come with a solution for you swollen feet. Glad to hear the weather is improving in your area too. That'll finally bring some flowers out and make the world look a little prettier. Enjoy playing outdoors together with your hubby.
Martha, glad you are feeling better. How about some cherry blossoms for brightening up your spirits today? Wink

Good luck with refurbishing the kitty room. Kofte actually is minced meat of beef and lamb with spices and herbs like mint, cilantro, cumin and chili. You can shape them anyway you like. Yesterday I simply fried them like hamburgers, but they are even better if you sear them and then have them simmer in a rich tomato sauce.
I think I'm going for a quick grocery run. Need some butter and fresh mushrooms for mushroom soup. So have a great Sunday everybody, TTYL

***WARNING, WARNING...GET SOME COFFEE BEFORE YOU SET DOWN!***

GOOD MORNING GIRLS...It was quiet early when I got up this morning, but at least I went to bed about 1:30 and told Jim as he was watching Cartoons not to stay up til 3 or later because He needed to get up earlier than 10 or 11 so e could get the day started. At 3:20 I called out for him and told him I was lonely and he came to bed. I'm still gonna get him up at 8 or 9 wish it was earlier than that though...we have a few things to do. I want to get it done early so I can set with my legs elevated and try to get this swelling done so my leg will stop leaking water! I'm thinking about going to some kind of Specialist Doctor that deals with such conditions as this because it's getting worse! I have a Orthopedic doctor's appt this coming Wednesday about my poor ole knees hurting so bad, hopefully they can give me a Cortisone injection and make then feel better for awhile. Other than those two complaints, I feel Wonderful! We had an absolute BEAUTIFUL day yesterday! Temps in the low 80's and Blue Skies. Jim even went to the car wash and made a short store run on the Motorcycle. I told him when he left to take a ride, I'd be OK! He even got invited to go riding today but won't leave me alone! Last year he hardly rode the bike at all and I ask him why he even has the motorcycle if he doesn't ride it and he said, "Because you won't let me sell it." Last nite for supper I made us a nice Chef Salad with a little bit of Turkey and Ham and a pinch of Cheese on top...it was so Good! Not sure what is on the menu for tonite...I think with me setting most of the day with the leg elevated, Jim can fix dinner. He has gotten to be an awesome cook over the past year or so. Now that I'm back to trying to do a little more in the kitchen I do it once in a while or we work together which I think is fun too. I will say since I have been back in the kitchen our Refrigerator ia alot more organized. I know where and what shelf everything is, there's no looking around for something. I guess that is one of my Pet Peeves!

***FAN, Your flower pictures are always Beautiful! Our Country's Capital has 100's of Cherry Blossoms all around this Park, given to us by Japan I think! I always wanted to visit there when they were in bloom! Glad you got yourself a cup of coffee and took your time reading "The Chapter"! I would love to be able to write like my Niece, she has such a way with words, it might have made it more interesting! Sounds like you and I were thinking alike with having the Big Salad! Now I've never heard of Kofte...they look really good, I bet they would be really good in the rich tomato sauce! We are also having the same kind of weather warm Spring temps and some wind None yesterday though. Hey those Dandelions love the wind, it's the way they spread their seeds...LOL! Enjoy coffee on the sidewalk today!

***PATTI, So you are itching to get outside and get the flower beds cleaned up and ready for planting. Gary has planted those Red Onions...I love those on Sandwiches and Salads! How sweet of Gary to say "Just keeping me company is all the work you need to do." Good luck at the doctor about your Circulation problem. Ya know until I got so sick, I took my body for grant, figuring everything will run smoothly and take care of itself, but it doesn't. Jim has a saying that goes like this..."If I knew I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself." Speaking about Heath and all...How is your Son Eric, that is his name isn't it? My Memory isn't good at all anymore. Is his Cancer Still in Remission? I pray he is still doing OK. Jim has a friend that has the same kind of cancer and isn't doing so well, of course he is a good bit older, I don't know if that has anything to do with it. By the way I seen a picture of 1 really cute girls in your kitchen making Grandma's cookies...I assume one of them was Madison? I think I commented on it.Yes, I'm NOT Happy with Tiffany right now. Of course she will not head any of my advice, but what child dies, even if they are 32! I guess I can be thankful that she's NOT into drugs or anything like that or in trouble with the Law, I just think she should carry herself better and at responsible like she's a MOM of 3 Children! So the Sister that called you about the Back surgery is the one that causes you Stress and inflects her life Drama on you? Just give her the info and be done with her. Life is too short to deal with that crap! I have a Sister like that, and she came to see me once all the times I lay dying in the hospital this past winter and acted like nothing was ever wrong between us. Hugged me and was so sincere when she told me she loved me, then that was it, haven't heard from her since! I heard that she joined this Church and if you didn't go with her to her church and Believe the way they did she dis-owned you...she left her Darling Husband for them! Go figure! I better head on over to chat with Martha, this is becoming MORE than a Chapter! LOL

***MARTHA. OK Girl, what are we gonna do with you and your health? What do you think is wrong? How long ago have you had those test run. Here at home we usually hear from the doctor within the week of the tests. If it's been that long, I'd call the doctors Nurse and request that the doctor get a hold of you with the results ASAP! I'm like you though, I wouldn't pay for an Office call just so he could tell you everything is OK..he can tell you that over the phone or even a letter. $45 isn't too bad for an Office Call, here it is $125, totally ridiculous! So what is the Nexium for? If it helps, why would he not let you continue to take it? Glad you took a minute to check out the Pittsburg Eagle Nest. Those babies are getting bigger everyday. They say they gain a pound a day/ They hatched around the end of March, well except the smaller one, he hatched the first week in April. I haven't check on them yet, usually when it's dark they are all asleep and real early in the morning it's too Foggy to see real clear. Boy sounds like you have your work cut out for you with that Popcorn Ceiling! Maybe your Daughter could help you, since you helped her with her house. What color Paint did the Kitties pick out for the room make-over? Speaking of Kitties, I can just see them laying by the sliding door, taking in the nice day and the birds and squirrels. don't work to hard today...remember you are spontaneous!

**ANN, Hope this finds you doing better this morning. Did you have to work? Sounds like your still having lots of Critters come through there? I bet they are so Precious! How's Jim doing? Weird question...remember when he was getting ready to Retire and he kept waiting for his "Yellow Envelope"? Did he EVER get that? My Jim got screwed on his Severance package by the company telling him that it would NOT be counted as part of his "Working Income" ,working being the key word here. Well when he got his W-2 for the taxes, it WAS included as workable income and it put us in a different tax bracket. Luckily it didn't hurt us with the Federal, but really did with the State as we had to pay close to $3,000! I hated that too it almost made me puke! Please tell Jim I said hello!

So I officially dub this Book Chapter too long and done! Sorry again for the lengthy gabbing! I pray everyone has a Blessed day and can do something fun, make it Memorable, OK? Best of health to all of you girls that are having sickness or pain. I will keep you in my Prayers. Speaking of friends and health, has anyone heard from Pat (Nubbins) and how is her hubby Vernon doing too? Ok Ok Here I go.... "Off to see the Wizard"....speaking of Oz, I'm collecting the Jim Shore series for Oz. got several pieces for my birthday. I know where did that come from? I'm silly. So have a great day, Take care and hugs to you ALL! Debbie

PS....I had "spell check on, but nothing got high lighted. I can't believe that I didn't make any mistakes in all this writing. I bet it missed a lot of errors and I'm sorry if it did!

Martha - sounds like you are having the same weather as us -- BEAUTIFUL!! They are saying possible rain this morning then becoming partly sunny later, it's nice out now, breezy but warm. Will open the windows later.

Fan - your breakfast looked wonderful...and here I am sitting drinking tea & eating peanut butter toast. Wink Smile

Debbie - Leo & Willow are doing much better. I take the collar off of Leo once in a while so he can clean & preen himself but we have to watch closely so that he doesn't start licking an area he isn't supposed to be licking. It's probably healing so it's itchy.

Worked a 12 hr yesterday, came home totally exhausted but have noticed that I am sleeping a little better at night, not waking up at 2am. My body has to get readjusted so might take another week for me to be back to where I was sleeping normally and not so tired. Plus I was told that the Prednisone stays in a persons body for quite a while. Rolling Eyes

Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday!
Ann

Ann-Marie, glad Leo is improving. But sorry to hear you are still feeling very tired. Hopefully the weather will hold up and you'll get a chance to go outside enjoying it.
Debbie, my salad yesterday was yummy. I tucked in all kinds of healthy stuff like seeds, raw veggies, herbs and so on. I finished the leftover portion today with some mushroom cream soup.

I'm preparing for a short week at the office. The office will be closed from Friday until Tuesday because of Easter. I'm really looking forward to that and so wish the weather will be warm and sunny Cool. Need to figure out what to do to the eggs this year. What are your plans for the Easter eggs rituals?

Good evening girls. What a wonderful day we had here, we actually hit 80 degrees. Gary, Madison and one of her friends took a bike ride and they came back beet red and very sweaty! We came home this evening and picked up dinner on the way and stopped by the lake to eat it. We saw people with big professional looking cameras and I was thinking to myself I bet they are trying to get pictures of the bald eagle I spotted on Monday. Just about then he flew by and hubby asked the people if it was a bald eagle, they said it was and that there is a male, a female and a juvenile eagle. I guess they won't doubt me next time I tell them I saw an eagle! Rolling Eyes
Hubby is outside tinkering, so I thought I would check in while I had the chance.
**Martha, whew removing that popcorn ceiling sounds like a big project! I totally understand your not wanting to feel pressured to get the baking done by a certain time. I agree with Debbie, I would call and ask what the results of the test were. Who knows they could have gotten lost or something after all this time and someone needs to be looking for them.
**Fan, what a great breakfast that was. Was there anything special in your eggs? We think we may have seen some cherry blossoms in our travels today. Everything is getting to looking so pretty. A short week for you due to Easter, that will be nice. I always have Easter dinner here, I ordered the ham on Friday, it will be at least 17 pounds. I love ham. Madison said she would like to have our traditional Easter Egg Hunt. We thought she may be too old for that but her mother said with money and candy involved she may never be too old for it.
Oh my goodness, that mushroom soup looked quite tasty, I haven't had good mushroom soup in a long time.
**Debbie, Nick is still in remission thankfully. I make sure and thank God for that every day! He and Tina will be coming to stay with us for a while for Easter. I am sorry to hear that your sister has not been heard from again since her hospital visit, but then again it may be for the best? Like you I don't want to waste any more of my life on avoidable drama. You and Jim seem to be doing so well with your new style of eating, you have to be proud of that. I hope that you can get some help with your legs soon.
**Ann, I know when I was on that prednisone it really messed up my sleep. I hope you will get back to normal sleep quickly. With those hours you work you really need your rest. I sure didn't know how you do it. I hope you were able to enjoy some of this beautiful day today.

Guess I will go see what trouble I can get into, ha ha.
