Good morning everybody, have a smashing day Very Happy

Today it's D-Day in Europe. Europe is commemorating the invasion of the Allied Forces on 6/6/1944 in German occupied Europe. Our King and Queen will be there, along with Pres. Obama and a lot of other political "hot shots".
The weather is wonderful over there and here, but I'm stuck in the office. I really wish to be at the beach right now and Normandy would be just fine Wink .
Luckily my office day will only be till 15.00 pm Smile . Need to read some audit reports before then. TTYL.

Fan - they have a reenactment at the Conneaut Beach in OH. Jim and I went one year, it was amazing the effort they made to make it look real. We watched where they were fighting on the bridge. Lots of veterans were there, many had tears in their eyes. Made me sad to think that many people think freedom is just many fought for it and lost their lives for that freedom.

We are down to 7 critters and possibly two more are to go home today. Many are getting called off...not good. I'm hoping we get more critters in, would love to see the census stay at or above 15. I left early on Wed, there was another girl there to take my place so I wasn't leaving them high or dry.

It's been really cool in the mornings, I am sitting here with a light jacket on. Then on the way home I have the windows rolled down! LOL!! Very Happy

Better get around here, head out...short day which is awesome! Wink Smile

Good Morning, Friends!

If Karl had the day off, we would head to Muskegon (less than an hour northwest). A World War II ship (LST 393) that went to and from Normandy at least 30 times with military, prisoners, tanks, jeeps, and cannons. This ship is only one out of three that still exist. President Gerald R. Ford's museum has a 6 pm free presentation for World War II veterans.

Plus, it's National Doughnut Day! A local doughnut bakery has a special presentation with the Salvation Army commemorating World War II. Due to the rationing of sugar, Salvation Army gave plain doughnuts to soldiers. Plain doughnuts are being sold today for $2 per dozen.

I planned on making Michael's overnight bread, but forgot about it last night. I am going to put an alarm clock on to make it tonight and bake it tomorrow. Smile

Fan - Are you doing anything special on your shortened day?

Ann - You are correct about the cool mornings. I am wearing a winter sweater now, but will change to a short-sleeved shirt this afternoon. How nice that you have a short day, too.

I just finished my second cup of coffee and my eyes do NOT want to stay open! I hate days that start with me feeling so sluggish. We had a cool evening also, went into the 50s.Madison has a game this evening and I better take a sweatshirt along. This time of year is so odd, the games start when it is really hot but by the end a sweatshirt is needed.
No time to cook dinner and clean up so we will be grabbing something to eat on the way.
**Vicki, I reminded Gary of the free donut at Dunkin Donuts today, but bet he still forgets to stop and get one. I am looking forward to hearing about the bread when you make it.
**Ann, that is what I was afraid of, that people would be called off. I agree with you, not many people give thought to how many people have died so that we can enjoy our freedom. Nice to hear that you have a short day today, enjoy it.
**Fan, nice that you have a shortened day also. Nice that there will be so many "hot shots" at the commemoration but it always makes me nervous that so many will be in one spot. It is a shame that terrorism is such a worry in our world today. Enjoy your shortened day.

Guess I will get moving and see if it will make my eyes a little less heavy.
