Hi guys.. I want to plant grass around my 5 ft.. walkway around my place.. anything I should know about planting grass... or should be sensitive to? Do I need to keep animals off the grass as it grows? Do I just till the dirk, add sead and water? Or is there a faster process? I'm tired of looking at dirt. Smile

Also, I'm thinking about getting one of the bougainvilleas... spelling? Anyone have any ideas for that.. should I keep it in a container or plant?

one thing i remeber from when my dad used to plant grass is to try and keep birds away until it starts to sprout, and try not to let cats pee on it until it sprouts!

If you own it...plant it - if not, put it in a container.

Buy a mower...but wait till you actually have grass...

OR...go for pea gravel, sand and brick...no mowing...plants in large containers...fire pit...BBQ...let us know when the party starts.

Your first line is GREAT advice!!!! I will pot. As for the grass.. that's ok to leave behind for the next sucker.

I'm hosting a party tonight with the girls.. we're watching 28 dresses and drinking wine.. a lot of wine.

Hi Guys.. I'll post pics soon.. I went to Osh today - 2 for 1 potting spoil so I couldn't really lose. Wink

I'm going to repot my plants and I bought something that looks like honeysuckle.. it smells soooo good! It's in a container so I'll have to put it in a larger one as it grows, but then I can take it with me. Smile I also got grass seeds.. I'm going to start tomorrow - and post photos. Wish me luck! Does anyone now how long it takes for grass to grow? Why do I feel like that's a start of a joke?

Till the soil and rake flat and even. Dampen soil and spread seed. Make sure you buy the right seed mix. They have full sun, partial shade, mostly shade, etc. Around my parts folks spread a thin layer of straw over it. I believe this is for three reasons:

Holds in moisture
Makes it harder for birds to eat
If a heavy rain occurs, it prevents it from streaming away.

Water gently twice a day too keep soil moist. It will probably be about two weeks before you see any sprouts. Don't get discouraged. Oncr they start, it grows and thickens quickly then.

I have planted the seeds.. it had begun. hahhh

Well, it was a lot more work than I thought.. my soil was really try on top and once I put the seeds down (I got stuff that's ok in sun and shade) and then it said to rake lightly which I did. I have been watering twice a day... we'll see.

The wine party was really great, except for the fact one of my girlfriends talked throughout the entire movie... AARRRG!

I'll post photos once the grass starts to sprout.

Babs I hate that! People who are always asking questions or interrupting! Good luck with the grass! Smile
