I'm so sorry about the loss of your beloved pet. On January 2, My DH had to put down his princess, Patches, after 15-1/2 years of having her in our family. We all miss her, but he is just heartbroken. The Vet sent us a sweet card with a lock of her hair that she saved for us and tied ina little bow. He goes to pieces every time he looks at it. She'll be taken care of and her ashes returned to us at the end of this week.
No one but animal lovers can really understand the sense of loss we feel when we lose our loved ones - they really are members of our family, wheher they have 2 feet, 4 feet or slither around. |

I second that! I have some of my cat's hair in a card with a funny picture of a cat in it. Makes me laugh now (it's over a year)... but the moment I open the card, I instantly want to cry. This will take a long time for him to get through this.. so you have another animal in the house? My advice is always to find another friend fast.. the house is just to empty without one if you've been used to having a pet for a while. |

Toni - I'm so sorry too! I have to tell you that when we went to get the ashes, it was like going through it all over again, so PLEASE be prepared. But I have to say that when we got back, we opened the box, and stared for a few minutes and then felt at peace. Strange feelings, but comforting at the same time. Don't you love how the vets are SO awesome? It's got to be hard on them too.
Babette - My husband and I have two dogs, and my maltese just loves my son more than life itself, LOL, so he is a comfort. You had to see Ash - 50 pounds and my little Beau - 9 pounds playing like cousins. They played tag. I can only remember the happiness that Ash brought to our home. My son is looking for a new puppy. He rescued Ash and he is afraid to go through that again. I can't wait to hear the pitter patter of little paws in the house again!
Peace to all of you!!!

| Prime... I have to second your comment about the ashes. When I got "Seether's" I felt much better. Like she was here. I met an 82 year old woman yesterday and she said she has three animals ashes.. when she and her husband die they are going to tell everyone to scatter them all in the sea so they can all travel together. She was a funny woman - small build and an ex ballerina. So cute! |
