Hi Guys.. I just sent out our latest Daily Bite newsletter with some really tasty cherry recipes. While cherries are a "summer" fruit, there are ways to enjoy them year round... and they help with jet lag! So if you're traveling this holiday season.. grab some dried cherries!

So, tomorrow.. I'm doing homemade cleaning products - got any recipes you use? If so, post to bakespace & link back here. Smile Also, any tips you have would be great to include in the newsletter. Don't forget to tell us why you use the product and what it does.

Oh no...this made me think bad to the "green kitchen" thread and the topic of paper towels!!! Shocked Sad LOL!

Anyway, in addition to using bar towels whenever possible (instead of paper towels), I use an All Purpose Cleaner and a Glass Cleaner I make myself. It is so inexpensive AND great for the environment! Cleaners you buy at the store are expensive and filled with useless chemicals and these get the trick done just as easy! I purchased some cheap plastic bottles to store and reuse when empty.

All Purpose Cleaner:
3 tbsp. vinegar
1/2 tsp. washing soda
1/2 tsp. vegetable oil based liquid soap
2 cups hot water

Glass Cleaner:
1/4 cup white vinegar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 quart warm water

Babs - I remember someone posted a homemade laundry detergent that I have yet to try but a few people on here trying and loving it. If I find it, I'll let you know....

I had to find that thread and see what you guys are talking about...LOL I could only stomach a bit of it...wow.

Anyways...I remember my grandmother always (and probably still does) using apple cider vinegar and water as a window cleaner and then using newspaper to wipe it off with. Worked great but made a mess on your hands....(don't touch ANYTHING until you wash your hands! (yes grandmother)..LOL

My favorite home made cleaning product is vinegar and baking soda to clean the drains.

I do this to all the drains every week or so and they stay clear and sweet smelling. It removes soap scum from the bathroom drains, makes the disposal smell nice and keeps build up from clogging all the drains. And it's safe for kids and animals, cheaper than "drain cleaners" and GREEN!

Oh! Oh! I just thought of another one! A thin coating of vegetable oil on all your stainless steel faucets and shower heads keeps them gleaming! Just put a few drops of oil on a paper towel or cleaning rag and wipe them lightly.

(Sorry, didn't mean to bring up that paper towel issue again!)

My husband refuses to by window cleaner because when we had our son two years ago, EVERYONE gave us baby shampoo so we only use this around our house!

Great posta guys! If you have recipes.. add them to bakespace so I can link to them from the newsletter.. even if they are short. Smile If you have a photo of the room you clean or anything that is also great! Smile I'm think I'm going to have to get some images for this one.. not many with photos this time around. That's ok. Also, thanks for the mention about Tango.. I see she's a mentor too! Smile
