Fantastic, I could use some wine advice that doesn't come from my brother. He likes to show off when he gives advice so I either can't find what he suggests or can't afford it. _________________ Cooking Stuff

Since I have had so many encounters with the god of the vine, I thought I would throw in a few things I have either learned, simply experienced, or have an opinion about...
OK... Temperatures.....
Yes, you can go buy a thermometer, and table top chillers and paraphenalia with alarms that takes up space if you like.
And we all know the drill ...
Red wine room temp,
White wine cold. Eh!
Well, refrigeration is a newer invention, the French have been producing and drinking wine for centuries that has come from the cellar to the table ... A cellar will not be 38-40 degrees, nor will it be room temp at 68-72 degrees...
I follow a simple rule. (This is only an opinion)
White wine - refrigerate until cold, remove and leave on the counter, unopened for 15-20 minutes before serving.
Red wine - from room temp (70), place in the refrigerator 15-20 minutes.
It reduces the temp just enough ...
You are looking for temps of about 58-62 degrees for Reds
and 48-55 for whites.
Now Reds and breathing/decanting.. That's a whole other thing... |
We got a whole temp chart (and a link to a great article on the subject) at the "Share tips and Learn about Wine!" thread! _________________ http://JofussGallery.etsy.com

LOL....you guys are sooo funny. I think the whine club meets the morning after the wine club. (badum bum bum)
I have just recently acquired a taste for wine. My brother showed me how to eat cheese with it and wow....what fun that is!!! I really have to be careful cuz I could go overboard on the cheese thing.
I'm really excited about this...YAY!!! I'll have to pick up a bottle of Merlot on the way home from the volleyball game tonight. I'll put the margaritas and kahlua and cream drinks on the shelf for a while. _________________ Danielle

Hey guys, I have a question, well it's mostly for Babs unless you have the answer. What's the deal with the facebook thing? It said meeting at 3:00. Did that just mean that it was at 3:00 that you opened up the boards to the group? I didn't realize that i could invite friends until it was over but I invited them anyway. Not sure if the non bakespace people realize that they need to go to bakespace. Sorry, maybe i"m the slow one. lol _________________ MICHELE
