So normally I hate reds too much of that metallic, tangy, kinda sharp bitter after taste for me but....
Maugle Sierra Vineyards in CT (this is literally down the street from my parents house I can walk to their vineyard from their place in 5 minutes  ) has an AMAZING house red! It is a mix of St Croix and Merlot here is what their site has to say about it:
"1740 Ledyard House Red – This wine’s clean full fruit taste greets you with every sip, capturing the unique blackberry and currant fruit tastes of this uniquely American wine. At first I thought I read it was $184 a bottle! AHHAHAH.. that's a case.  I thought for a minute that our wine club has really made it to the big leagues. |

Mrs. Mixon (I can't remember your first name - is it Martha?), I LOVE regional wines - you can find such great ones out there! I've found that the local wines (on the East Coast anyway) are more like the "homemade" wines I grew up with. Good find!

Joy, we have tons of wineries in IN. All are different. Some do have wine that are more like the "homemade" ones but then there are some that are more sophisticated or complex. So it's nice for us that we have a good variety in our local wine. |

Sounds like a GREAT wine.... I have a couple from the local winery area up near Julian... Witch Creek's Fat Cat Red and "Screamin Kitty" are always good... I was interested to come across a Carignane at Shadow Mountain vineyard... This grape is normally used in blends for table wine but rarely produces a "Varietal" wine because of the high tannins... But I remember it tasting like spicy blackberries... Actually quite fruity... I could be getting it mixed up with another one from that weekend... there were alot
