Can be but it depends where you get it from too... one of the benefits to being military is shopping on base and at on base "packy's"  The one I <3 and cant find is like $11 on base in Virginia

Oh how is this for a pairing... Clean Slate Riesling with Cheap Chinese Spare Rib take out
and Mosacto D'Asti with Geneal Tso Chicken
and for the added thing:
Since I know I like Moscato d'Asti's and some Rieslings any suggestions on any other things to try?? I normally dont care for reds since they tend to be too oaky and dry for me (I have tried ones that have aged in steel but finished in oak and still found too much of that dry after taste for my liking) I tend to like sweetish wines.... |

Mrs.Mixon, you might like an Ice Wine. They are made from frozen white grapes and are very sweet and fruity (at least the ones I've had) Very nice dessert wine.
I had a Sutter Home Muscato that someone had brought over and it sat in my wine rack for a couple of years. Finally did and was pleasantly surprised! (I know it's not high end but it tasted great!) It was sweet, but not too much. I know Muscatos are supposed to be "musky" but this one was not. Notes of (what I determined to be) pair and spice. Would have been excellent with an apple pie or pear dessert!
I think some Muscatos are labeled "Cot" (if I'm not mistaken) so you might look for one under that name. |

I have tried one Ice Wine before and OMG it was hurt my teeth sweet! I couldnt take more then a sip. I was so glad I didnt buy it
I will look into the Sutter Home (IDK about the high end ness of a label it just should taste good... I drink wine for me not to impress people who care about labels )
I will look into the "Cot" label next time I go to the wine store thnx! |

Sorry girl, I should have warned you about the Ice wine. I don't like it either, it's way too sweet for me too. It makes a great dessert wine though.

Do you like more of a semi-sweet then? (I'm guessing) You might try a Niagra wine or at least a blend with Niagra grapes, it might be more to your liking. Here (in Indiana) they are grown in the southern part of the state, so we have lots of local wineries that carry some sort of Niagra. This is perhaps my favorite wine of all.
another semi-sweet to sweet white is Mascala. An added bonus, if you don't like it there are tons of recipes out there calling for it
I'm sure when the boards warm up a bit today there will be lots of other recommendations. (keep trying don't give up!) |

Niagra sounds like something I may like...
I tried this one blend once from Newport Vineyards called Tranquility it was great, its a mix of Gewurztraminer, Muscat Ottonel, Pinot Gris and Riesling. and tasted JUST like the wine I cant find here minus the bubbles
but sadly Newport Vineyards wont ship to Maine either  I need to make a trip to Rhode Island for it one day |

Tonight on my local news station they are doing a special on finding good wine for a cheap price, along with tips and stuff about wine. I think Shane might be able to get to watch it down there on KTLA. Anyways...after it airs I will look on their website and see if I can post a link for you all to check out. hopefully I'm still awake in 2 hours as it doesnt air until 10pm...lol
