Oh, and I wanted to mention to, to add to that....a poster on the Martha page suggested fabric softner helps (which makes sense, heck I use that to dissolve wallpaper glue!)

Ah, Yeah! OK, Back to the drawing board...
I prefer the smell of leather and handmade paper... sans Downey and/or Snuggle. Hmmm....

I already have the perfect journal that was originally going to be my cook book, but the pages were a little too rough for writting THAT much detail... So it was retired.... and has been collecting dust for a year...
Time to dust it off and fill it with Bacchanalian goodness... I shall make Pan proud... Mr. Green

It's been awhile since anybody added anything to this subject...and I was wondering if anybody had progressed on their wine notebook at all?

I recently started one. I read over the suggestions posted previously and found that they only worked about 1 in every 5 or so for me. What I've done is started printing out my photo of the label (& back if I feel like it). I've been writing my reviews & such as I go along, then adding the pictures in once I've had them printed. I like the method so far. Not sure how my book will hold up once I have a bunch of photos in it...it may look like a fan, but...idk, we'll see.

Any other observations or things that anybody has to share???

Thanks Very Happy

Girlichef, alas, after much effort and many failed attempts at removing the labels (not to mention how much time it takes) I've resorted to keeping a digital diary of sorts.

I created a "wine" file in my recipe files that I keep the pics I take for our wine club reviews (along with others that I taste along the way) and I've been doing both front and back of the bottles. Then I just use the template that we use here for the reviews. (kills two birds with one stone) I've also been taking the time to look up the wine websites if the info isn't on the label. This is helping me to orient myself to regions, wineries, and helps to compare what I think I taste and what they say it tastes like. Basically, it's teaching me how to verbalize my reviews better. (I think that's what I'm trying to say Wink )

I think I still need to organize it somewhat, but I'm trying to decide if I want to create an Access data base for it. So I could quickly look up a wine by varietal, taste, region, etc. It's growing pretty fast, so I better get on it.

It's not as romantic as Shane's leather bound journal, but hey, it works best for me (for now)

That's a great idea to do it digitally. I'm a bit like Shane in the respect that I love having a book in my hands. I've been using the same format that we use as well. I try to remember to look up websites and add them...I do find this helps also. And I totally understand what you are saying...I'm hoping it helps me communicate my thoughts and reviews better!!

Thanks so much Smile
