Why are cats so insane??? And why do they need to pee on things to prove they are the boss? What do you use to get pee out of the floor? Hardwood floor?

I worked at a pet store for 16 yrs and I still have that problem. You don't want to use anything that contains ammonia (lysol, pine sol, etc) as they will smell the ammonia later and do it again since urine contains ammonia. To make sure you get the whole spot, get a black light and the pee area will glow in the dark (along with all the dust bunnies). If the hardwood is sealed, you shouldn't have too much of a problem...its when it soaks in that its a real pain because the cleaning product has to soak in also. There are lots of products for this purpose, you'll have to find what works for you.

As far as why they do this.....ummm....could be several reasons. They don't feel good or they're pissed off. oooor...they smell ammonia there from a previous time and have to do it again to "freshen up" the mark

with my cats I can not leave anything on the bathroom floor (not even a small rug) because within a couple of hours, it will get pee'd on....towel, clothing...whatever. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I use to get this stuff called PDQ that smelled like lemons and it worked great but I can't find it anymore. Theres a product called Natures Miracle that you can get at the pet store that might work.

Nature's Miracle from the pet store, definitely!
It's a little pric-y... but well worth it.
They trick is to make sure you get ALL the stain. If you don't have one of those black lights then just cover an area a few inches bigger than the stain, just to be sure. They sell a kit that has the black light and a cleaner together at the pet store.... I keep saying I'm going to get one!
Kitties.... gotta love em!

Sometimes its difficult to see the stain. I know that the pet store I use to work for (here in Burbank) rents the black lights if you want. Or...in the reptile section, you can get a "night time" bulb and use that in any socket. Im pretty sure its the same thing.
