Name: Il Conte D'Alba Moscato d'Asti
Price: 11.99
Year: No Vintage
Short intro from the wine maker about the wine:
From the beautiful village of Santo Stefano Belbo in Piemonte comes out delicious Moscato d'Asti. A refreshing white wine to be served chilled and accompanied by fresh fruit and cheese.
Review:
Nose: Honeysuckle and pears with a hint of nectarine.
Palate: A delightful Frizzante (slightly carbonated). This tasted a lot like Martinelli's Sparkling cider at first, but once paired with a lemon pepper cream sauce, it opened up a little, revealing hints of grapefruit and gooseberry all melded together in a creamed honey base. Quite delicious actually.. and the effervescence worked with the lemon to keep my palate clean regardless of the cream and butter of the sauce and it counter pointed nicely with the slight punch of green pepper in the finish of the sauce.
Would you buy again?: Yes, even though it is a little on the sweet side
Wine Pairing Ideas/Recipes:
My Dinner tonight was selected to accompany this wine. Pan Seared Brussels Sprouts tossed with Gnocchi in a Lemon/Pepper Cream sauce. This might be able to pair nicely with a hand tossed Caesar Salad as well..

They are VERY sweet wines.... I didn't actually post my first review... I have a Castoro Muscat Canelli that I use when I make Gorgonzola sauce.... Works great in the sauce, as a counter point to the blue cheese and walnuts... But I could not actually drink it? It's sticky cloyingly sweet... like Honey soaked Bananas.... I can't handle it... But it's GREAT for cooking... and Poaching pears and stewing Rhubarb... _________________ ~ Shane
