Good morning everyone! I'm so happy it's Friday and I have a three day weekend a head of me. I had a nice surprise this morning - I went to McDonalds to pick up some breakfast before going to work and when I got up to the window to pay, I was told the person in front of me had paid for my food and said to have a nice breakfast. After a few questions the girl told me it was the woman who does her hair, so I knew it was Yenny, my hair dresser. When I got to work I called her and thanked her. Wasn't that nice of her to do that?
I have to get to work, but will check in later. I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Yes, it's Friday and I could not be happier! Good morning to everyone!
I am feeling ambitious today and posted a new picture for my profile.
Sheryle, I love your story about Yenny. She is such a sweetheart, it doesn't surprise me.
I'm going to DC in the morning to visit my daughter for a few days. Hubby will hold the fort down...wonder how that will go! The meals are usually interesting when he is in charge.
Not alot happening other than that. Have a great day!

Good Friday morning to all.
I have just the regular things to do today .My oldest DGD is gone on a school field trip and that makes me worry.It's an almost 2 hr. away trip.You'd think I'd get use to it but I haven't.My youngest DGD had a slight fever last night ,seemed better this morning so she went to school I hope the fever doesn't come back.I'm praying she isn't getting sick again.Before Christmas she was sick for over a week with a bad cold.
I'm a real worry wart
Sheryle - That was a really nice thing your hairdresser did.Not many people seem to care anymore about others,it's nice to see there are some still left who do.
Hope all of you have a wonderful Friday!

Good Morning, Sheryle, Suzanne, Pat, and all to follow,
Sheryle, what a delightful way to start your day.
Suzanne, enjoy your visit with your daughter. We have missed seeing you here.
Pat, I'll be praying that all is well today with you and your granddaughters.
Yesterday, we went to my daughter's and returned a couple things left behind. This also gave her an hour to do other things while we watched the children. Soooo, this morning I plan on making Jason's granola. I'll post the recipe.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend.
Sending smiles your way,
Vicki

JASON'S BADASS GRANOLA
Directions & Backstory This stuff is very basic and highly satisfying. Much better than anything store-bought, I've found. This recipe is adapted from Alton Brown's granola recipe. As long as the proportions remain the same, you can mix and match ingredients.
* 3 cups rolled oats
* 1 cup slivered almonds
* 1 cup pecan pieces
* 3/4 cup shredded coconut
* 1/4 cup plus 2 tbsp brown sugar
* 1/4 cup plus 2 tbsp maple syrup
* 1/4 cup vegetable oil
* 1 tsp salt
* 1 cup dried cherries
1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
2. In a large bowl, mix oats, nuts, coconut and brown sugar to distribute evenly. In a smaller bowl, whisk maple syrup, oil and salt to combine. Pour the syrup mixture over the dry mixture and fold to evenly combine.
3. Spread the mixture evenly on to two rimmed baking sheets. Bake for 1 hour 15 minutes, stirring every fifteen minutes, until nicely browned and fragrant.
4. Remove granola to a large bowl. After cooling, mix in dried cherries.
That's it. This stuff will keep in an airtight container for... well, I don't know how long, actually. It never lasts more than a couple of days in my apartment.
Mix in different nuts (cashews are good), substitute raisins or dried blueberries for the cherries. Like I said, keep the proportions right, and you can swap out whatever you like.

GOOD MORNING to ALL my DEAR FRIENDS........And T.G.I.F. I'm so glad it's Friday too. It's been a busy week for me and DD has 4 days off, so I don't have to chase after the boys and can set and relax and get this ole foot of mine feeling better. Don't get me wrong I love, love , love to have the boys over, they bring sunshine and happiness into my life, but lately I've over did it with playing and wrestling around and then on my feet fixing big meals so they'd have a good meal while their parents worked. So rest it's going to be for me...I cook for my Mom and dad today and work on the laundry, but in between that...I think I'll start reading a book. I have to be in the mood to readand haven't been for several months now, but a week or so ago, I thought "I'm in the mood for a good book." The weather her is going to be very wet up to Sunday and 55*, then no rain but temps. down to more seasonal 32* to 35* ..YUCK!! I woke this morning at 4:30 with another bad headache and an ear-ache in my right ear and aftera few Advil..I still have them both. Must be my sinuses...If I set down to read, I think I'll put the heating pad on my ear!
****SHERYLE, YEAH...a 3 day week-end! How did you arrange that? Dh says no more lomg week-ends for him for a long while. And how nice for your hair=dresser to SURPRISE you with buying your breakfast!!! See, I'm a firm believer, that when you are a nice person (which YOU difinitely are) and you are good to other people ..especially a stranger...then your kindness comes back to you in the future! Now someday someone will do something to surprise her. So glad your day has started out so well (((Sheryle)))
***SUZANNE, So glad you are back with us. Hope you have a good visit with your DD in Washington. Now don't worry about your DH holding down the fort...he'll do a fine job. Hope you have good weather when you get there.
***PAT, Are you feeling better today? The other day you mentioned you weren't feeling well. You know I think that worrying about our chidren and our grandchildren is part of our motherly instinct! My Mom worries about all her children all the time. And I told her once..Mom don't worry about us, we all have good husbands, a nice home, good jobs, and our chuldren are well-rounded kids and not troubled and we are all basicly healthy. Now I ask you what more could you want for your family? She is just a worry-wart too!
***YELLOWCARNATION, First of all, WELCOME to our little groups of the best ladies in the world! Do you mind telling us your first name? Most of us know each other by our first name. How long have you been over at TOH Board? I don't thinkI've chatted with you other there. Sounds like you've got a cute little family. 7 and 4 are cute ages for kids. Here's a little bit about me: I've been married to a wonderful man (my soul-mate) for 24 yrs and we have a grown daughter who's married to a great guy and a good daddy. They both ahve blessed my DH and I with 2 wonderful grandssons 4 and 1 yr.old. They are my sunshine in my lif and I love them all dearly. I don't work outside the home any longer. I had to go on disability for my right foot. I had Polio when I was 2 and after I turned 50 i...I starting getting what they call Post Polio Sysndrone. my foot is constantly in pain and some days are worse than others. But I'm a happy girla dn I thankful for everything that God has bleede me with. Oh yea, one more thing...I'm the oldest of 9 children. You'll hear me talk about my family alot. Hope you enjoy your time with us.
***VICKI, Glad you had a nice visit with your DD and what a nice grandmother to watch the kids while your DD did a few errands. Thanks for sharing the Granola recipe with us...I'll be making it, because my DH is a snacker. He loves to munch on something in the evening and also it would be good for him to take in his work truck when he's on the road..he can snack on that. I'll let you know what he thinks about it.
Well I'd beter get off here...it's a little after 11 and I need to get MOm and dad's dinner ready, because DH is taking it to them when he leaves to go back to work from his lunch break. I'll be back later..Hello to those that I hadn't seen yet and I pray for those still in need. Have a great day and Take care...Debbie _________________ Debbie

Good Morning! Hello to Sheryle, Suzanne, Pat, YellowCarnation, Vicki and Debbie and all else who come by.
** Sheryle, what a nice surprise for you this morning, great way to start the day!
** Suzanne, have a great visit with your daughter, I am sure hubby will do a fine job. My husband used to do wonders with Hamburger Helper when left in charge. Blechhhhh! But the kids didn't mind.
** Pat I hope your youngest DGD is not getting sick. Seems like everyone I know was sick over Christmas!?
**YellowCarnation, I think most if not all of us came from TOH BB. Did your brother come back with great stories and recipes from Peru?? Do share. My name is Patti, I have three grown sons, twins 33 years old and the youngest just turned 26, I have a granddaughter that will be 3 in March, married 34 years to a great man. I was disabled in a car accident and no longer work outside the home. Good think I enjoy cooking and homemaking.
** Vicki, that granola sounds great, I really have to give it a try, I love granola, and it would be great to have just what I like in it.
**Debbie, you seem to be always getting so much accomplished. I am sorry to hear that you are disabled also, as the years go by I focus less on the constant pain and more on the many ways I am blessed, sounds like you do to. You enjoy a relaxing weekend, I sure know what you mean about the grandchildren, they bring such joy, but oh the pain really sets in when they leave, I always overdo too. It is so hard to not. I hate to say no to anything. My DGD insists I get down on the floor with her and it is really hard especially to get back up I am hoping as she gets older she will be content with me just sitting near by in a chair or something. Well girls, I really need to get busy. Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend filled with love and joy.
