Ok...I have a few...here's the first one:
Name: Twisted Old Vine Zinfandel
Price: I think it was around $8...I forget. Sorry
Year: 2007
Short intro from the wine maker about the wine: (this is cute)
Here is a Limerick of a wine that is Twisted.
In a glass, it cannot be resisted
Whether a Cab, Chard or Merlot, Pinot Grigio, Zin - all great to know.
Pour me another glass I insisted!
Twisted Zin is trly an unrivaled experience! Does an explosion of blackberry jam, chocolate covered cherries, spicy nutmeg and luscious ripe plum sound appealing? We thought so. This Zin is just as comfortable flying solo as it is paired with saucy short ribs, BBQ chicken, hearty chili, or even dark fudge brownies
Review: I didn't have anything to eat with the wine (chicken just didn't seem to cut it). I did enjoy it as is....solo. I wish I had read the label before finishing the bottle off so I could've concentrated on the "explosion". my bad.
Would you buy again?: I might....although I think I like Merlot a bit more
Wine Pairing Ideas/Recipes: I'd go with what the bottle suggests. _________________ Danielle

the other day when I took my neighbor shopping (she's pushing 90, doesn't drive, so this is a weekly thing for the two of us)...she shoved $10 in my hand and told me to buy myself a bottle of wine. I wasn't gonna argue LOL. So I splurged a litte:
Name: Francis Coppola Diamond Collection Red Label Zinfandel
Price: $11.99 (on sale)
Year: 2007
Short intro from the wine maker about the wine: Spicy and decadent, Diamond Collection Red Label Zinfandel boasts rich, jammy flavors and aromas of crushed wild berries, brair patch, spices and sweet toasted vanilla. Blended from fruit grown in warm rugged vineyards across California. This wine delivers medium tannings and an ideal balance of fruit and oak. A tasty complement to roast turkey, beef pot roast and pasta with pessto sauce
Review: At first when I opened the bottle last night...and tasted it...I couldn't stand it. It had a very odd flavor that I can't put my finger on. Boy was I bummed. I decided to give it one more try tonight, after reading the label. HUGE difference today. I could actually taste the berries and the vanilla. The tannings are a bit strong for my taste but I've had worse. Oh and the nose? spicy. the berries really come out on its own. Pairing with a juicy steak brought out the vanilla.
Would you buy again?: possibly. if it's on sale and I wanted a strong zin.
Wine Pairing Ideas/Recipes: Went very well with my steak and onion roasted potatoes. I did try it with a slice of apple smoked gouda....eh. not horrible but it didn't make any of the flavors pop. _________________ Danielle

Barefoot Zinfandel
California
$5.00 (on sale)
No year listed
Intro is right up there...because I've had far too much to deal with it
Review: Deep, ruby red. Smells of elderberries...not really...smells of ripe berries and spice. It does taste like a dark, smooth cherry that has taken a spice bath. Warm and pleasant on the tongue...and it seems the sinuses, too. Me likey.
Buy again: I do believe I would.
Pairing/recipe ideas: Good with a hearty squash pasta that I made. _________________ http://girlichef.blogspot.com/

You know, I've had a couple Barefoots too and enjoyed them. I wonder if my local shop carries any... _________________ Cooking Stuff
