Good idea Babs, My name is Patti AKA grammadotcom, or patticake.
I am 59 yrs old and live in west TN.. Been married now for 7 yrs [after being a widow for 15 yrs,] to a great guy named Jim, I have 3 daughters, Jeanna age 40, Krys age 39, and Jessica age 26 and had a son who passed away from an enlarged heart in 2008, at the age of 32. Jim has 2 daughters. and between us we have 11 grandkids ranging in age from 23- 2 1/2 months.
My oldest daughter Jeanna and I opened a bakery last fall and are still trying to get it to make a profit. Slow going, but it is picking up. We just moved to a new location and hope that it is a better one since we are paying more for it and is closer to the main part of town. Hope to get to know all of the newcomers on here. I have been a member since 2007, so most of the old timers know me already and was my support when my son passed away. I really appreciate all of them. _________________ Once in a while I dream that a gigantic squirrel is carrying me away. Does that make me a NUT? |

Once a week I volunteer at our local hospital, I'm the chairperson for the Wedding Committee at Church, I'm a Eucharistic Minister and belong to Ladies of Charity and the DeMarillac Guild. In my spare time I play golf, bunco, and sew as a small business. Cooking is always a main part of what I do........ _________________ Karen

Hi my name is Patti, I live in Central Pa with my husband of 37 years. I have 3 grown sons and a 7 year old grand daughter, Madison. I cook or bake every day and really enjoy trying new recipes. I have had a few recipes published in GooseBerry Patch cookbooks. I used to enjoy vegetable and flower gardening, now hubby has taken over for me, he is doing a great job. I have been a member of BakeSpace for a very long time and love all the people I have come to know through here. Every one is friendly and helpful and there is always someone to put a smile on my face. _________________ Patti

I'm so glad we did this again! Love the updates.
Let's see... I'm Babette, the founder of BakeSpace.com. I did not start out as a cook. I used to work in reality TV (produced and directed several shows for MTV, ABC, NBC, TLC, TBS... the list can go on). Did that for 12 years and then got burned out. Some shows you might recognize are "The Real World" "Road Rules".... blah blah blah.
So I took a cake decorating class to feed my soul and bring me back from the dark side. And so without any tech experience, I started this site. Made some good decisions and some bad ones.. but we survived. And every day I learn something new be it a cooking technique or a simple "remember to slow down and enjoy a good conversation" to "OMG the server is crashing.. what do I do?!" kind of lessons...
We are not owned by a big corporate site... so you won't find a lot of "community managers" on the payroll here... but you will find a lot of friendly folks interested in helping out. You'll also find a ton of great recipes (which we're working on better ways of highlighting those).
What else... oh, I have three rescue cats (Fluffy, Gracie & Milo) and we just adopted our first dog (L.B. Farticus). He's technically my starter baby. He's so darn lovable!
I live with my BF of almost 10 years (anniversary is November 21st) and Erik has been my biggest supporter through building this website. I don't think I could have done it without him. He's awesome (although that doesn't mean I like him all the time... LOL). If he only did the dishes or took out the trash without having me say something... he's be perfect!!!!
We live in LA in a very old house that has a lot of charm (aka plumbing problems). I'm hoping over the next year we get married and start to grow our family with actual children and not another pet. LOLOL
I'm addicted to cupcakes... a vegetarian, but my friends don't hold it against me.
I'm always open to hearing about ways to make the community better. I am a one person band here so sometimes you have to tell me a few times... but I do listen.

Hello Everyone.
My name is Martha and I'm retired and a widow living in Rochester, NY (upstate NY on the Canadian border)) I have one grown daughter and I take care of my 94 year old mother although she has her own apartment. I have a friend named Jim who is my boyfriend, gentleman friend, friend-with-benefits, whatever you call two old farts who love each other. Oh, and I have two cats. That's them in the picture to the left.
Although I don't cook as much as I used to, I like to try new recipes and I bake cookies alot. Bakespace has expanded my collection of everyday meals as well as turned me on to things I would have never tried because I thought they were to "foreign" or exotic for my tastes! Everyone here is so friendly and helpful. I love the way we can ask questions or advice about a recipe and get almost instant answers!!
We talk about what we're making for dinner or other times we'll get into a lively discussion on all kinds of topics. (Some are even food related!) Then again sometimes we tell each other funny things that happened at work or in our family. I love to see photos or hear about the weather in other parts of the country or the world.
So if you're new to Bakespace.... don't be shy, just jump into any of the discussions. I guarantee you'll be welcomed and really have a good time. _________________ -----Martha |

Hello, Friends!
My name is Vicki and I live in west Michigan with my husband of 32 years. We have three children, two married and one soon to be married, and seven going on eight grandchildren (ages 6 and under).
I enjoy baking and cooking, and have fun tweaking as well as creating my own recipes. Now that I have an herb garden (third year), I'm also looking for recipes to use these fresh herbs.
